Bolton: ‘That’s a serious problem’ if Pentagon didn’t inform Trump of alleged spy balloon flights

President Joe Biden’s inexplicable lack of action in not moving quickly to order the shooting down of a Chinese spy balloon before it traversed half of the country drew such strong criticism of his leadership that a counter-narrative soon emerged that similar surveillance flights took place under the nose of former President Donald J. Trump, a claim that former national security adviser John Bolton was skeptical of.

Shortly after the balloon was finally blown out of the sky off the coast of South Carolina on Saturday, the  Pentagon through the usual unnamed sources claimed that Beijing’s balloons traveled through U.S. airspace when Trump was in the White House only it wasn’t discovered until Biden took over, a tale that was rejected by the nation’s 45th president.

While there is much debate over the veracity of the Pentagon’s claims, the former Trump underling said it would have been a “serious problem” if true while mocking the transparent effort to reshape the narrative to provide cover for Biden.

On Monday, Bolton appeared on CNN where he discussed the incomprehensible delay in taking out an obvious threat to America’s national security by the communist adversary where he expressed skepticism over the claims of the anonymous Defense Department official that the media has used to absolve the current White House occupant of any blame.

“As far as I know, every Trump administration official who has been asked have said they didn’t know anything about it,” Bolton said in response to a question on the Trump-era balloons. “I will say this, if there was any actual knowledge that these balloons were over the United States and higher authority wasn’t told, that’s a serious problem. That’s a serious problem.”

“That’s not what the Biden administration is saying,” he continued. “I wrote these words down. I was so, so stunned by them. One official told Fox News that the balloons went undetected, undetected. And then said, two things can be true at once. This happened and it wasn’t detected.”

“Well if it wasn’t detected when it happened, how did we detect it more recently? Did the Biden administration invent a time machine?” Bolton asked sarcastically. “What is the basis of this new detection?”

Bolton said that while the Biden regime has offered to brief former Trump administration officials of the alleged balloons, he “isn’t waiting by the phone” and that Congress should be asking some serious questions about the meandering communist spy dirigible.

Trump rejected the idea as being just more of the same hogwash that the media specializes in peddling.

“The Chinese Balloon situation is a disgrace, just like the Afghanistan horror show, and everything else surrounding the grossly incompetent Biden Administration. They are only good at cheating in elections, and disinformation — and now they are putting out that a Balloon was put up by China during the Trump Administration, in order to take the ‘heat’ off the slow moving Biden fools. China had too much respect for ‘TRUMP’ for this to have happened, and it NEVER did. JUST FAKE DISINFORMATION!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.

“Who sends a Billion Dollar blimp, with the most sophisticated equipment in the World, and large enough to hold ten cars or 3 large buses, into a complex pattern over the United States, without it quite possibly being manned, such as the “manned spacecraft?” China should have been called to ask. If ‘no,’ shoot it down, if ‘yes,’ negotiate the greatest deal EVER!” Trump added in another Sunday post.

“This was a botched effort from the beginning,” Bolton added. “And by the way, the fact that there were earlier transits of part of the United States territory, which I think the administration made public to say it’s nothing new, don’t worry about it, proves exactly the opposite.”

“The very fact, if it is a fact, that the Chinese have tried this before should have alerted us and should have caused us to take action before the balloon crossed into American sovereign territory,” he said.
