Charges yet to be filed after man beaten to death on his own doorstep over middle school fight

Police in Anne Arundel County, Maryland have yet to charge anyone after a man was beaten to death on his own doorstep over an earlier fight at a middle school.

Christopher Michael Wright, 43, died of traumatic brain injury after he was viciously beaten in front of his family for refusing the mob’s demand to have his fiancé’s 14-year-old son come outside, according to Tracy Karopchinsky, who had been in a relationship with Wright for 8 years.

Karopchinsky told WBAL-TV 11 News that her son got into a fight with another teen Friday afternoon at the school and that three teens and two adults came to her house looking for him.

“Chris came out to tell them, like, he’s not coming out here to fight, and they threatened at one point to come in and get him, and then they said, ‘If he’s not going to fight, then you’re going to fight,'” she said.

“Just looking at the damage that was done to him, that wasn’t just punching that did that. Like, there’s no way that punching did that,” Karopchinsky said. “The damage was done before the ambulance ever took him away. I mean, he’d had a seizure. It was done. There was nothing that the hospital could do.”

The violence was captured on security cameras belonging to the victim and a neighbor, according to WBAL.

“I was at Shock Trauma, and initially, my dad and I tried to go on the camera to look, and the first video that comes up is my 12-year-old son screaming, ‘Daddy, daddy, daddy,’ and running out of the house into the street to go help his dad. And, I couldn’t watch anymore after that. I just couldn’t,” Karopchinsky said.

Anne Arundel County police are reportedly investigating and said that charges could be filed against the individuals involved.

“Anyone who assisted who abetted or was an accomplice of the main suspect or the primary suspect will be culpable,” Anne Arundel County police spokesman Marc Limansky told the NBC affiliate.
