Egg on AOC face after Kevin McCarthy reveals he texted privately to Nancy Pelosi after hubby attack

Following the shocking — and, admittedly, bizarre — attack on Paul Pelosi by “deranged” nudist David DePape, the left has, predictably, rushed to use the assault as some sort of an indictment of the right, even before the details of the incident have been made clear by law enforcement.

But as House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy inadvertently proved on Sunday, it would have been wise of liberals — namely, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to do a little due diligence before trying to “own” one of her Congressional colleagues with an accusatory tweet.

Republican Trump-supporting “extremism” was immediately fingered as the inspiration behind the break-in, though it was soon revealed that DePape is a homeless hippy who crashes in a house covered with Black Lives Matter, anti-police, and LGTBQ+ banners.

Even President Biden attempted to link the attack to the events at the Capitol on Jan. 6th in a blatantly politicized rant.

Not about to be left out, AOC did what AOC does best: She made it about herself and attacked McCarthy without bothering to verify the facts behind her latest outrage.

“Last year, a GOP Congressman shared a depiction of himself killing me. When the House rose to censure, @GOPLeader defended him,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Saturday.

“Yesterday, a man sharing that member’s rhetoric tried to assassinate the Speaker and her spouse,” she continued. “What has @GOPLeader said? Nothing. This is who he is.”

As it turns out, McCarthy did say something, just not to the self-obsessed Squad leader.

Appearing on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo,” McCarthy revealed that he was in touch with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi soon after learning of the attack.

The lawmaker also condemned the assault in no uncertain terms.

“Let me perfectly clear – violence or threat of violence has no place in our society,” he stated. “What happened to Paul Pelosi is wrong. Having heard it, I reached out and called the Speaker. She was on a plane back for her husband, though, so we were able to communicate by text.

“She said that the surgery went well,” he continued. “I wanted to convey that our thoughts and prayers were with her and her family, with Paul, and we hope for him, a speedy recovery, and that we’re able to stop this crime across our country.”

“Of course,” McCarthy added, “this person seems deranged.”

While demanding public condemnations — worded precisely to the satisfaction of Democrats — for things that literally everyone from all sides of the political spectrum already and repeatedly condemns has become the ludicrous norm, Ocasio-Cortez may have thought twice about doubling down on her self-aggrandizing McCarthy slam had she checked her facts.

When reminded by political commentator Pete D’Abrosca of the shooting of Steve Scalise on a softball field, Ocasio-Cortez shot back with, “And that appalling act of violence was swiftly and rightly condemned.”

“Still waiting on your boy though,” she smugly continued before shifting the spotlight back on herself. “Funny, because he gets loud, fast when defending his members who incite violence against women, but real quiet once that violence occurs. Wonder why. Must be a coincidence.”
