Fauci motivates Americans to vote for Trump: ‘Like me saying I’d turn down a date with Christie Brinkley’

While America’s interest in the pandemic has dropped off substantially after two-plus years, Dr. Anthony Fauci’s quest for attention remains strong and the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases appeared on CNN host Jim Acosta’s show over the weekend and managed to give the country a good reason to vote for Donald Trump in 2024.

Acosta, who was the chief White House correspondent for CNN during the Trump years, was gifted a weekend program by network honchos for his continual efforts to undermine and do battle with the former president. So what does he talk about on the show? Trump, of course.

He asked Fauci, “If Trump were to return to the White House as president and Covid is still a threat, or there is some other public health emergency, would you have confidence in his ability to deal with a pandemic of this nature? Would you want to stay on in your post?”

President Biden’s chief medical advisor let out a laugh, saying: “Well, no… to your second question.”

“If you look at the history of what the response was during the administration, I think, you know, at best, you can say it wasn’t optimal. And I think just, history will speak for itself about that,” Fauci added. “I don’t need to make any further comment on that, it’s not productive.”

Eager to ensure that he got his coveted sound bite, Acosta asked a second time, “You would not serve with Trump again, right?” and his guest replied, “Right… for sure.”

Trump has yet to declare that he is running for president in 2024, but Acosta seems to be consumed with the idea that this will happen — his ratings would likely be dealt a much-needed boost in the event Trump does reenter the political landscape.

As for his relationship with Fauci, Trump said in October 2020, “People are tired of hearing Fauci and all these idiots, these people. Every time he goes on TV, there’s a bomb, but there’s a bigger bomb if you fire him.”

The reaction on social media included the suggestion that if Trump was elected to office again, Fauci wouldn’t have an option because he’d be fired. There were also plenty of replies insisting that his ouster, one way or the other, is reason enough to vote for Trump.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter suggesting that Fauci has long since worn out his welcome:
