Hannity calls for assassination of Putin, while Tucker warns his removal could destabilize the world

Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson have a difference of opinion when it comes to handling Russian President Vladimir Putin: One wants to kill him, while the other warns the next leader of Russia could be much worse.

“What we really need in this crisis, more than anything else, is a worldwide condemnation,” said Sean Hannity on his Wednesday radio show. “And it’s a simple new rule that if you invade an innocent sovereign country, and you kill innocent men, women and children, you don’t deserve to live. That’s the bottom line.”

While acknowledging that assassinating world leaders is a crime, Hannity did not seem concerned about it.

“‘Well, Hannity, we have an executive order that prohibits assassination of foreign leaders,'” he said, “and I’m like, ‘You cut the snake off and you kill the snake.'”

“Right now, the snake is Vladimir Putin,” Hannity stated.

He would also like to see some more action from NATO, suggesting that such a hit, claimed by everyone and no one, could prevent a war.

“You know, if we can see a satellite imagery where the convoy is, I don’t know, maybe some smart country, maybe NATO, might take some of their fighter jets, or maybe they can use some drone strikes and take out the whole damn convoy,” Hannity said. “And then nobody takes credit for it, so then Putin wouldn’t know who to hit back.”

Because Putin would never simply blanket bomb every NATO country in return, right?

Tucker Carlson, it seems, it not quite so keen on escalating the aggressions. While noting President Joe Biden’s rousing support of Ukraine in his State of the Union address — as well as the open displays of support from many members of Congress — he cautioned that removing Putin could have a far more destabilizing effect on the world, and he wondered where support for the many issues impacting Americans could be seen .

“[Biden] talked far more about Ukraine and with much greater passion than about any other topic,” Tucker stated. “Biden delivered exactly the speech everyone wanted to hear. Virtually every lawmaker in the room last night from both parties arrived wearing some version of the Ukrainian flag.”

He noted that, while House Minority Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was sporting a Ukrainian flag lapel and pocket square, Old Glory was an absent accessory.

“That’s about as Ukrainian as you can get,” Tucker said. “Even the president of Ukraine doesn’t do that very often. What McCarthy conspicuously didn’t do, was don an American flag pin. No, not at all. And many others went without that too, because within the context of [the State of the Union address], the American was literally irrelevant.”

Tucker stated that the Russian economy is “destroyed” and liberating Ukraine “by force” is not an option for the United States. He then questioned the wisdom of forcing Putin out.

“What’s the point of all of this?” he asked. “Putin’s bad. No one in America is going to argue with that. But will destroying the entire Russian economy make Putin less bad? Will it force Russia troops to withdraw from Ukraine? And if it will, how exactly will that work and how long will it take?”

“Or is the plan bigger than that?” Tucker mused. “Is the idea that we can force Vladimir Putin from office entirely? Okay. Will that work? And if it does work, what happens to Russia after Vladimir Putin leaves?”

The controversial Fox host wondered if, given America’s history with regime changes, the devil we know may not be a safer bet.

“Would the next Russian president be an improvement over Putin?” Tucker asked. “Or would Russia descend into barbarous chaos like Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan did once we overthrew their governments?”

“Now you may not care what happens to Russia,” Tucker continued, “but you have to wonder, what would become of Russia’s enormous nuclear stockpile under those circumstances? Take a moment and think. Are there potentially ways that thousands of unsecured Russian nukes might pose a long-term threat to the United States?”

“Something to think about,” Tucker stated, adding, “Not that anyone is.”
