Leftist group wins $171M gov’t contract, that could reach $1B, to assist illegal immigrants from deportation: report

The Biden administration is paying for a non-profit to provide legal services to illegal aliens even as thousands of illegals cross into the U.S. daily.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services paid out $171.7M in grant money this past March to the Vera Institute of Justice, a left-wing nonprofit that, among other things, provides legal services to illegal alien children, according to Fox News. Specifically, the group helps illegal alien children avoid being deported.

The contract lasts until March 2023. But so long as HHS keeps renewing the contract, the group could wind up with nearly $1 billion in grant money by March 2027.

News of the institute’s contract comes two months after a record 239,000 illegal aliens crossed the border in May. This comes out to thousands of illegals per day, which in turn comes out to hundreds of illegals at any particular point of entry.

Case in point:

The shocking footage shared above by Fox News’ Bill Melugin covers just one point of entry on one given day. There are dozens of additional points of entry, and not all of them are staffed by Border Patrol agents ready to apprehend illegals.

The fact is that the 239,000 illegal aliens recorded in May were only those who were apprehended by Border Patrol agents. Nobody knows how many additional illegal aliens crossed into the U.S. It could be dozens, or it could be hundreds.

What is known is that of those illegals who have been apprehended, a large number have subsequently been released into the United States.

“The latest Biden administration disclosures in Biden v. Texas reveal that in May, DHS released 95,318 migrants CBP had encountered at the Southwest border into the United States, bringing the total of illegal migrant releases there under the Biden administration to 1,049,532 — a population larger than the number of residents in the president’s home state of Delaware, at a rate of 2,115 per day,” the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) reported last month.

What’s also known is that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is extremely underfunded under the Biden administration.

According to an Axios report published Wednesday, the agency faces “an estimated $345 million shortfall for the current fiscal year.”

The president has offered no indication that he’s interested in beefing up the agency. He’s called for agencies like the IRS to be beefed up instead.

Border Patrol meanwhile is extraordinarily demoralized.

“Under Biden, things are the worst they have ever been by far. Agents are calling in all the time. You always hear, ‘It doesn’t matter,’ or, ‘What’s the point?’ in reference to doing our job. Agents are afraid of ending up on the news for doing their job or getting in trouble for doing their job. There is no morale,” one agent said in an exclusive interview last month with the Washington Examiner.

“All they have done is basically stomped on us from the get-go. And they’ve condemned us on every turn. People are pretty much fed up with how this administration is treating Border Patrol agents because all we’ve been doing this whole time is what they’ve told us to do, which is really bad policy,” another added.

But this administration — which critics argue is pro-illegal alien, pro-criminal, pro-every bad guy — just doesn’t care.

And so as long as this administration remains in power, every single day is poised to  begin just like this:
