Multi-millionaire Neil Young urges Spotify workers to quit because the CEO cares about money

Joe Rogan is living rent-free in the mind of aging rocker Neil Young, who has now called upon Spotify employees to quit their jobs before they lose their souls.

It’s an easy ask for a multi-millionaire, especially since Spotify has already chosen Rogan over Young’s catalogue of music. He’s lost the gig. Why shouldn’t other Spotify workers?

Neil’s new crusade was launched following a compilation video of Rogan, in which Rogan is shown multiple times using the N-word without any context given. As American Wire News reported, the hit piece on Rogan was created by a liberal Super PAC and a trio of Trump-hating brothers. Still, Rogan issued yet another apology, even as Spotify removed 70 past episodes of his podcast.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek even issued his own apology to the employees Young wants to go jobless.

In a memo obtained by Axios, Ek stated, “There are no words I can say to adequately convey how deeply sorry I am for the way The Joe Rogan Experience controversy continues to impact each of you. Not only are some of Joe Rogan’s comments incredibly hurtful — I want to make clear that they do not represent the values of this company.”

“While I strongly condemn what Joe has said and I agree with his decision to remove past episodes from our platform, I realize some will want more,” Ek continued. “And I want to make one point very clear — I do not believe that silencing Joe is the answer. We should have clear lines around content and take action when they are crossed, but canceling voices is a slippery slope. Looking at the issue more broadly, it’s critical thinking and open debate that powers real and necessary progress.”

Nope. That wasn’t nearly good enough for Neil Young.

In “A Message From Neil” on his neilyoungarchives.com website, Young went after Ek and urged Spotify workers to “be free and take the good path.”

“To the workers at SPOTIFY, I say Daniel Ek is your big problem — not Joe Rogan,” Young writes. “The only goals stated by EK are about numbers — not art, not creativity.”

“Notice that EK never mentions the Medical Professionals who started this conversation,” Young adds. “Look, one last time — at the statements EK made.”

Several ’70s musicians, such as Crosby, Stills & Nash and Joni Mitchell, followed Young’s lead and pulled their music from Spotify, but Young wants more.

“To the musicians and creators in the world, I say this: You must be able to find a better place than SPOTIFY to be the home of your art,” Young pleas.

Or, maybe Joe Rogan will find a better place for his art.

In response to the ongoing drama, Rumble issued an offer to Rogan many are hoping he can’t refuse.

In a tweet, Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski stated: “We stand with you, your guests, and your legion of fans in desire for real conversation. So we’d like to offer you 100 million reasons to make the world a better place. How about you bring all your shows to Rumble, both old and new, with no censorship, for 100 million bucks over four years?”

“This is our chance to save the world,” he added. “And yes, this is totally legit.”

 

If the decision were up to Twitter, Rogan would run for Rumble and never look back.
