Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) expressed concerns that Hunter Biden’s alleged ties to China may have created a “blackmail opportunity” for China against the United States.
In an appearance on Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom” Monday to discuss the ongoing Department of Justice investigation into the first son for foreign lobbying violations, Grassley stated that he and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) have proven Biden’s “close relationship” with Chinese business people who boast ties to the Communist Party.
“What I and Senator Johnson have done at this point is bring out the facts and the bank records that prove that there was a close relationship between Hunter Biden, maybe James Biden, and business people in China that have close contacts with the Communist Party and with the military there,” Grassley said. “And, so, what’s concerning to us, we release all these documents. What’s concerning to us is — is there any sort of blackmail opportunity for China against the United States because of those close working relationships?”
“I say it’s concerning,” Grassley added.
As BizPac Review reported in January, those concerning ties resulted in the Biden family receiving $31 million from “Chinese elites,” according to author Peter Schweizer.
“Indeed,” Schweizer wrote at the time, “every known deal that the Biden family enjoyed with Beijing was reached courtesy of individuals with spy ties. And Joe Biden personally benefitted from his family’s foreign deals.”
Grassley acknowledged that the investigation has not produced any records to indicate that Hunter Biden has been blackmailed, however, Sen. Grassley stressed it’s a possibility that should not be dismissed.
“We don’t have any records that would prove anything along that line, but when you have people high up in the Chinese government and business community and, you know, what they want to do is they want ins in the United States for their own political benefit, then that’s concerning,” Grassley said.
“But we can only expose the records that show that five million dollars went from people in China to the Bidens, Hunter Biden,” Grassley stated.
When asked when he thought he might get some of the answers he and Johnson have been seeking, Grassley stated they would continue to “follow the money and the facts,” but he charged journalists with the task of helping to get the facts out to the public.
“I expect journalists to be the policeman for the political system. To not only rely upon Chuck Grassley and Johnson to get these facts out,” Grassley stated. “The media should have been working on these a long period of time. In fact, they were in cahoots with Democratic senators trying to say Johnson and I were just disseminating Russian disinformation when we can trace it right back to the Russians. They were the ones that were spreading Russian disinformation.”
