Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene told a British journalist to go back to her country after the journalist tried to lecture her about why England’s draconian gun laws are supposedly superior to the laxer laws boasted by the U.S.
The slam occurred during a press conference Wednesday held in response to a bipartisan group of senators voting to officially begin legislative deliberations on the “breakthrough agreement on gun violence” that they’d reached about a week and a half earlier.
Video footage of the altercation shows Greene concluding her press conference remarks by saying, “It’s our job to defend the Second Amendment.”
She then begins walking away from the podium but is interrupted by the British journalist, who says, “We don’t have guns in the UK, that is true, but we don’t have mass shootings either. And our children aren’t scared to go to school.”
Greene promptly responded by shouting, “You have mass stabbings, lady! You have all kinds of murder and you’ve got laws against that!”
“Nothing like the same rates here,” the reporter replied.
Apparently irritated by the reporter’s argument, Greene clapped back, “Well, you can go back to your country and worry about your no guns. We like ours here.”
Greene later proudly shared this viral video footage on her Twitter feed:
When British press wants to argue about our God-given American gun rights, my answer is: “go back to your own country.” pic.twitter.com/QrcA9Apbet

She was right: Americans do like their guns.
She was also right about England suffering from massive numbers of stabbings.
The following five headlines about knife-related crimes in London alone were published on Wednesday:
- The Independent: “Man arrested after woman and child ‘stabbed to death’ in north London”
- Sky News: “Pensioner, 89, stabbed to death in Thornton Heath, south London”
- GB News: “London stabbing horror as 89-year-old woman knifed to death in home”
- MyLondon: “Six men including victim’s brother charged with murder of London man, 32, stabbed to death in Bristol street”
- Daily Mail: “Schoolboy, 15, stabbed unarmed 14-year-old to death with a hidden sword before fleeing on e-scooter”
How bad is the crisis? So much so that English schoolchildren’s biggest fear is being stabbed to death, according to a BBC report published in January.
“At recent crisis talks the BBC attended with police, youth workers and school leaders, community activist Tilisha Goupall recounted the traumatic story of watching her 15-year-old brother Jermaine die on the pavement in front of her. Since his death in 2017 she’s worked to try to prevent similar tragedies,” the report reads.
“She explained that when she asked a group of children about to start at secondary school what they were most afraid of, ‘100% of them, all primary school children, said they were [most] scared of being stabbed.'”
The BBC’s report is titled, “London violence: Children as young as 10 fear being stabbed.”

During a separate part of Wednesday’s press conference, Greene slammed the Republican senators who support the bipartisan gun bill.
“Here’s the problem I have. Joe Biden, then-Sen. Joe Biden that made my school a gun-free school zone and has left American students sitting ducks, targets for anyone who wants to go kill them, he’s friends with these Republican senators. And I’ll tell you who they are, because I don’t mind naming their names because people all over our country are furious at them,” she said.
Greene then listed the names before continuing.

“These are the Republican senators that Republican voters do not support anymore. We’ve got to change our Republican Party, and it needs to happen right here. Because if we don’t start defending Americans’ freedoms and rights and putting America first, our Republican voters are not going to want to put us in charge,” she said.
“We need to do a better job. The Senate gun is a complete failure, and I’m so happy with our House GOP leadership saying that they’re voting no against this bill and whipping against it. That’s something I’m extremely pleased with, and I know Republican voters and Independents and gun owners, period, are going to be thrilled with.”

Greene’s remarks came hours after Senate Democrats, in conjunction with the Senate Republicans listed by Greene, successfully voted 64-34 late Tuesday to advance the bill.
The bill doesn’t “gut” the Second Amendment, as some critics have put it, but it does certainly put a dent in it.
The bill specifically funds red flag laws, provides money for mental health and school safety, closes the “boyfriend loophole,” requires enhanced background checks for gun purchasers under 21, and institutes the first-ever “federal law against gun trafficking and straw purchasing.”
If the bill makes it through the Senate, it’s guaranteed to be signed into law by President Joe Biden, given as there’s simply no amount of GOP opposition that can prevent it from clearing the House …
