‘They HAD to lie’: Key witness drops bombshell accusation against J6 committee, demands release of transcripts

Attorney Ken Klukowski is effectively confirming what most rational Americans already realize, that Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Jan. 6 House Select Committee is a politically motivated effort, with the lawyer accusing the panel of cherry-picking from his hours of testimony to present a fabricated narrative that has little familiarity with the truth.

Klukowski, who worked with Trump campaign attorney John Eastman, was accused by U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., one of two aptly-dubbed “Pelosi Republicans” on the panel who is also vice chair, of being “one of the primary architects of President Trump’s scheme to overturn the election.”

But he is accusing the panel of not only misrepresenting his testimony, but of withholding evidence.

“The January 6 Committee falsely accused me on Thursday of being a go-between in a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election,” Klukowski said in a statement over the weekend, according to Breitbart News. “That accusation is false both in its broad outlines and its details. Since the Committee first contacted me, I have cooperated without hesitation, provided it with hundreds of documents, and sat for many hours of recorded depositions. The information produced from those efforts fully contradicts the Committee’s statements regarding my actions, yet the Committee has chosen to keep such information to itself rather than share it with the public.”

Klukowski made four specific points, the first being that he was “not sent to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to act as a link between Jeff Clark and John Eastman on election matters, or to otherwise seek to overturn the results of the 2020 election.”

“Second, as I testified to the Committee, I disagreed with John Eastman’s theory on the powers of the Vice President at the January 6 joint session of Congress,” he added. “Third, I never briefed or advised Vice President Pence, or his staff, regarding any matter, including the 2020 election or the January 6 joint session of Congress.”

His fourth point was that while he “assisted” in the draft letter, it was Clark’s idea, “largely dictated or outlined by him, and my role as his subordinate was to commit his dictations and outline to writing and fill in legal citations at the direction of my then-boss over the course of a single day, December 28, 2020.”

“I call on the Committee to release in their entirety the transcripts of both of my Committee depositions, so that the American people can see an accurate and truthful account of my activities, not the distorted and demonstrably false narrative now being spun,” Klukowski concluded.

U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson. D-Miss., chairman of the committee, suggested last week that Klukowski was involved in the scheme to reverse the 2020 election results.

“A key focus of our hearing today will be a draft letter that our witnesses here today refused to sign. This letter was written by Mr. Jeff Clark with another Department of Justice lawyer, Ken Klukowski, and the letter was to be sent to the leadership of the Georgia state legislature,” Thompson said. “Other versions of the letter were intended for other states.”

Cheney accused him of “simultaneously working with Jeffrey Clark to draft the proposed letter to Georgia officials to overturn their certified election and working with Dr. Eastman to help pressure the vice president to overturn the election.”

Margot Cleveland, senior legal correspondent for The Federalist, connected all the dots to explain why Klukowski plays a pivotal role, tweeting: “They HAD to lie to connect Clark proposal to Eastman.”

In a sizzling Twitter thread, Cleveland insisted the panel “moved WAY beyond show trial to intentionally lying to American people & withholding evidence exposing fraud.”

She also tweeted, “THIS should be a huge story and huge scandal and every honest journalist & politician should demand release of transcripts.”

Cleveland would say in another thread that Tuesday’s J6 hearing “should be presumed fraudulent after proven fraud perpetuated on Thursday by committee, and declare that Cheney “deserves derision & NO support EVER from ANY Republican. She has her family name to fall back on, whereas she intentionally sought to destroy the good name of an innocent man.”
