Fox News host Trey Gowdy blasted the DOJ in his opening “Sunday Night in America” monologue this weekend, challenging the Justice Department to “give us what you got” because the American people deserve “more than 38 pages of redacted nothingness.”

Calls for actual transparency have reverberated across social and mainstream media since the ridiculously redacted affidavit used to secure the questionable raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, and according to Gowdy, the DOJ needs to answer some legitimate questions about it.
“Many Americans still have questions,” he stated. “These questions are not political. They are factual and legal.”
“If you are contemplating indicting a former president, I think we’re entitled to more than 38 pages of black lines and DOJ leaks… clearly, the department is talking to liberal reporters,” he continued. “If you’re going to tell the story, tell it all and tell everyone, tell the American people. Don’t claim you can’t comment on uncharged conduct… if there is a case to indict a former president, give us what you got.”
As BizPac Review reported, the blacked-out affidavit only served to fuel more speculation as to the true purpose of the FBI’s ransacking of Mar-a-Lago, with many believing it was a fishing expedition designed to either recover any documents that could damage the Democrats or discover any new dirt they could use in their relentless pursuit of Trump.

According to Mark W. Smith, a professor at the Ave Maria School of Law and senior fellow in law and public policy at The King’s College, even the length of the document denotes a “weak” legal case against the former President.
“The length of the probable cause affidavit is not unprecedented, but it is a bit odd. The more explaining an attorney must do in writing often that translates into a longer legal document and frequently signifies a weaker legal position,” he said. “The reference to multiple federal statutes and detailed discussion of confidential designations makes the document look a bit like an educational tool for the public or perhaps for the Florida federal courts.”
Fellow Fox News host Jesse Watters called the released affidavit “embarrassing.”
And in his opening monologue, Gowdy likened the document to a “Rorschach test.”
What the American people really want, Gowdy argued, is “more information.”
“Perhaps some people have already made up their minds, but many have not,” he stated. “They want more information.”
“Is this really about the return of documents, or something else?” he asked. “If it’s about the return of documents, they are back now. So why is the DOJ saying that the investigation is just beginning?”
The stakes in this scenario, Gowdy stressed, could not be higher for the future of the country.
“What’s at stake are two foundational beliefs, that no one is above or beneath the law, not even former presidents, and number two, similar facts should lead to similar outcomes,” he stated. “Justice should be the same for everyone and never be used as a political weapon.”
“This is important for the country,” Gowdy stated. “So give us more than 38 pages of redacted nothingness.”
