Trump has his own scathing speech for Robert De Niro after actor’s latest claim

Former President Donald J. Trump clapped back at one of his biggest critics after Robert De Niro’s remarks at the Gotham Independent Film Awards last week.

The award-winning actor and faux tough guy who made a career out of playing gangsters in such movies as “Goodfellas” and “Casino” rarely passes up an opportunity to take a shot at his fellow New Yorker, but his latest anti-Trump diatribe went off the rails when he claimed that his speech had been secretly tampered with.

While accepting the award on behalf of his “Killers of the Flower Moon” co-stars, his latest collaboration with director Martin Scorsese, the foul-mouthed octogenarian appeared confused while seeming to expect that his criticism of Trump would be on the teleprompter, he said it was stealthily sabotaged.

On Sunday, the target of De Niro’s ire shared his rebuttal on Truth Social.

“Robert De Niro, whose acting talents have greatly diminished, with his reputation now shot, must even use a teleprompter for his foul and disgusting language, so disrespectful to our Country,” the actor’s target wrote. “He has become unwatchable both in movies, and with the FOOLS that destroyed the Academy Awards, bringing them from one of the top shows in the Country to a Low Rated afterthought.”

“De Niro should focus on his life, which is a mess, rather than the lives of others. He has become a total loser, as the World watches, waits, and laughs!” Trump said, mocking the troubled actor.

“I just want to say one thing,” De Niro said. “The beginning of my speech was edited, cut out, I didn’t know about it. And I want to read it,” as the audience cheered.

The actor then read the nasty, falsehood-filled speech off of his phone to the delight of the audience. “History isn’t history anymore. Truth is not truth. Even facts are being replaced by alternative facts, and driven by conspiracy theories and ugliness.”

“In Florida, young students are taught that slaves developed skills which could be applied for their personal benefit,” he continued, repeating the big lie about Florida’s history teaching standards that was promoted by Vice President Kamala Harris. “The entertainment industry isn’t immune to this festering disease. The Duke, John Wayne, famously said of Native Americans, ‘I don’t feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them. There were great numbers of people who needed new land and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.’”

After besmirching the iconic American actor, he turned to Trump, “Lying has become just another tool in the charlatan’s arsenal. The former president lied to us more than 30,000 times during his four… years in office, and he’s keeping up the pace in his current campaign of retribution. But with all his lies, he can’t hide his soul.”

“He attacks the weak, destroys the gifts of nature and shows disrespect, for example, by using ‘Pocahontas’ as a slur. Filmmakers, on the other hand, strive — this is where I came in and I saw that they edited all that,” he added, referring to the former president’s nickname for Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) who fibbed about her Indian heritage to get a leg up during her academic career.

“So I’m gonna to say these things but to Apple and thank them all that,” the actor said as he brought his diatribe to a close. “Gotham, blah blah blah, Apple…but I don’t feel like thanking them at all for what they did. How dare they do that, actually,” he said.

Despite his impressive career as one of America’s most acclaimed actors of the last half century, De Niro will always be remembered by many as just a bitter old man for his obsession with the former and perhaps future POTUS, “his reputation now shot” as Trump so eloquently put it.
