Trump planning to visit Ohio town, meet with community in the wake of toxic train derailment

Former President Donald J. Trump will reportedly visit East Palestine, Ohio next week, the site of an unfolding environmental disaster in the aftermath of the derailment of a train carrying hazardous chemicals.

Trump, who announced his White House run late last year, will reportedly travel to the area on Wednesday where he will meet with members of the community who are struggling with the fallout from the February 3 incident when the Norfolk Southern Railroad train derailed in the small town located near the state’s border with neighboring Pennsylvania.

Not only have residents been faced with contaminated waters and toxic chemicals as a result of the decision to conduct a controlled burn of vinyl chloride gas that sent plumes of toxic fumes into the atmosphere, but also a shockingly apathetic response from federal government officials with neither President Joe Biden or Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg having yet made or scheduled a personal appearance.

The news of Trump’s visit was first reported by Fox News which cited “a source familiar with the former president’s plans” but the ex-POTUS seemed to confirm the news in a post to his Truth Social platform.

“Great people who need help, NOW!” Trump wrote along with a link to a post featuring an article that he would be visiting East Palestine next week.

The Fox News source said that the former and perhaps future president has a “strong relationship with the people of Ohio,” a state that he won in both 2016 and 2020.

Terrible images and videos of the situation in the area have been posted to social media, showing dead fish and polluted waterways, and there are numerous reports of animals dying after the gas was released into the air in order to prevent a catastrophic explosion.

Residents who had evacuated were given clearance to return to their homes on February 9 but many remain skeptical that it is truly safe and have expressed serious concerns about their personal health and the health of their families.

The Biden administration’s response to what some have referred to as America’s “Chernobyl,” a reference to the infamous 1986 nuclear disaster in the Soviet Union has led to criticism that a regime that is so intensely focused on the global climate change crisis would not respond with the full might of the federal government to a cataclysmic environmental event at home.

While initially devoting little coverage to the situation in East Palestine, the media has now flown into action with it being apparent that the disaster could be a serious political problem for Biden.

The New York Times, the nation’s foremost water carrier for the Democratic Party claimed that critics of the regime’s response are, “using the crisis to sow distrust about government agencies,” something that the Biden administration seems to need little help with.

Buttigieg, the former mayor of the smallish college town South Bend, Indiana, who was tabbed for his very important job despite having no actual qualifying experience other than being openly gay, downplayed the tragic situation, shrugging it off as just one of “roughly one thousand” train derailments a year.

Secretary Buttigieg was a no-show at a local town hall earlier this week and no announcement of a planned visit to East Palestine has been reported and Biden will be preoccupied with Ukraine as he travels to Poland to mark the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion.

Trump’s visit once again shows that he puts America first while Biden’s attention seems to be elsewhere.
