Twitter war breaks out over Drew Barrymore ‘getting on her knees to worship at the feet of Dylan Mulvaney’

Actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore caught a load of flack for a soppy interview on Monday with Dylan Mulvaney, a biological male who supposedly now identifies as a woman — his over-the-top characterizations have prompted some to believe that he’s mocking women.

In the interview, both Barrymore and Mulvaney end up on the floor hugging one another like school girls while reveling in their individual weaknesses. For the record, Barrymore is 48 years old.

The Hodgetwins summed the moment up best: “Bruh.”

 

“There is so much hatred directed toward the trans community right now. It’s everywhere,” Mulvaney said. “The greatest weapon I can contribute is trans joy and comedy and talking about hard subjects and really intricate moments of a transition, and try to let everybody in to see that I’m not a monster. I’m not somebody that is anything but trying to be myself and be happy.”

He had Barrymore and the audience eating out of his hands. As the crowd applauded, Barrymore offered an emotional display of gratitude while thanking them.

“Love ya,” a beaming Mulvaney chimed in.

But it got even sappier.

Barrymore asked her guest where he got the strength to “keep being the joy,” while barely able to contain her own joy, and Mulvaney employed carefully chosen words to talk about his “chosen family and the people that I love to take care of me,” and about not putting things out there “before you’re ready” and surrounding yourself with good people.

In saying that he could not imagine anyone not liking Barrymore, the talk show host fell to her knees and while down there, confessed to the man who portrays himself as a woman: “Do you want to know, ironically, who dislikes me the most sometimes? Myself.”

“Me too,” Mulvaney responded.

Like Mulvaney’s caricature of a woman, it was all just a bit too much — good lord, have some self-respect!

Not that the Kool-Aid drinkers weren’t soaking it all in.

And for those who couldn’t stomach the melodramatic moment, well… they’re “transphobes,” of course.

On the other hand…
