What a surprise! Pro-illegal immigration group suing DeSantis got $1M from a familiar pot

Seemingly eager to try and prematurely knock him out of the 2024 race, desperate Democrats and Democrat-aligned groups are launching a lawsuit and at least two investigations against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Both the lawsuit and the investigations pertain to his decision last week to ship 50 illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard.

The lawsuit is coming from Alianza Americas, an activist group that’s suing ostensibly on behalf of the aliens.

“Plaintiffs, and the class of similarly situated individuals they seek to represent, are vulnerable in a way and to an extent that almost defies verbal description. They are as deserving of dignity and empathy as anyone among us,” the suit reads.

“In or around September 2022, Defendants and their unidentified accomplices designed and executed a premeditated, fraudulent, and illegal scheme centered on exploiting this vulnerability for the sole purpose of advancing their own personal, financial and political interests.”

According to Fox News, the group is linked to radically far-left billionaire donor George Soros.

“Alianza Americas has received a total of $1,383,947 from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations between 2016 and 2020, OSF’s records show,” Fox News reported on Wednesday.

“The grants came from three of his nonprofits: Open Society Institute, Open Society Policy Center and Foundation to Promote Open Society. The grants were to support policy advocacy on immigration, a Global Compact for Migration initiative and to strengthen the group’s international work in Central America and Mexico.”

“Immigration” as in illegal migration.

The law firm that actually filed the suit, Lawyers for Civil Rights, is also linked to far-left money. Specifically, it collected $50,000 in donations from Borealis Philanthropy in 2019.

“Borealis is a left-wing donor-advised fund that acts as an intermediary steering Democratic money to organizations. Borealis has partnered with Black Lives Matter and the left-wing Marguerite Casey Foundation, which advocates for the abolishment of policing and prisons,” according to Fox News.

In a statement to Fox News, DeSantis’ spokesperson, Taryn Fenske, slammed the suit as “political theater” perpetrated by “opportunistic activists.”

“If these activists spent even a fraction of this time and effort at the border, perhaps some accountability would be brought to the Biden administration’s reckless border policies that entice illegal immigrants to make dangerous and often lethal journeys through Central America and put their lives in the hands of cartels and ‘coyotes,'” she said.

Fenske also provided the network with a copy of a consent form — reportedly available in both English and Spanish — that was signed by every illegal alien who was shipped to Martha’s Vineyard.

I agree to hold the benefactor or its designed representatives harmless of all liability arising out of or in any way relating to any injuries and damages that may occur during the agreed transport to locations outside of Texas until the final destination in Massachusetts,” the form reads.

Thanks to this form, DeSantis cannot be held liable, unless Alianza Americas and their attorneys can prove that the illegal aliens were tricked into signing them.

As for the investigations, they’re coming from elected members of Congress.

“Democrats in Congress are considering opening at least two investigations into Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sending a migrant flight to Martha’s Vineyard as the battle heats up over the transportation of asylum-seekers away from border states to sanctuary states,” the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.

“House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson is drafting a letter seeking information from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) about DeSantis’ transportation of migrants by plane. … The Mississippi Democrat also said that another unidentified committee could open a probe into the financing of Desantis’ flight to the wealthy island off the coast of Massachusetts.”

However, no other news source has confirmed this, nor has Thompson tweeted about any letter or investigation.

It would nonetheless be no surprise for Democrats — who this week rejected an attempt by Republicans to open an investigation into President Joe Biden’s scandalous son Hunter — to launch yet another investigation into a top Republican who’s done nothing wrong.

In fact, supposing that DeSantis did indeed do something wrong, then so has President Biden, who has his own sordid history of shipping illegals — far more than 50, FYI — to all corners of the country.

Except, for some reason, when Democrats ship illegals somewhere — even if they try to keep it secret and do it in the dead of night — it’s apparently perfectly OK.
