‘Aren’t there standards?’ Dem Missouri state Rep arrested hours after reelection

Fresh off an election victory, Missouri State Rep. Anthony Ealy, Jr., was arrested.

Police were called around 11:30 am on Wednesday after it was reported that the newly reelected Democrat was trespassing and making threats at a woman’s apartment in Jefferson City.

Ealy had reportedly threatened the woman and her husband, saying, “I’m going to kill you”, while mentioning something about a gun, Fox4 reported.

The Jefferson City Police Department said multiple witnesses reported a man yelling, and the police report noted that Ealy had the same episode the prior night!

The Cole County Sheriff’s Department recommended charges of fourth-degree assault and disturbing the peace. The incident report stated that the woman’s husband plans to press charges and that Ealy appeared to be having a “panic attack,” Fox reported.

Ealy was reelected on Tuesday with 68% of the vote after winning his first run in 2022. He has a record of troubling behavior and was reportedly encouraged by local leadership not to run again. He remains in custody at the Cole County Jail.
