The senseless and brutal murder of a Department of Homeland Security official has left the agency “devastated” and demanding more answers about the prior administration’s vetting process during the “naturalization” process.
Lauren Bullis, 40, was “brutally shot and stabbed to death” by suspect Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, who was naturalized under the Biden administration despite having a record of convictions, including sexual battery, assault, and battery against a police officer, Fox News reported.
DHS Secretary Mark Mullin confirmed the information on Wednesday, noting that his department is “devastated” by the murder of Bulllis.
The brutal killing comes after the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services began to disclose “significant national security and public safety risks” within the Biden administration’s vetting process, which it called “wholly inadequate.”
Bullis, who Mullin called a “bright spot” within the DHS community, was walking her dog in Georgia when she was attacked.
Abel was also arrested for alleged ties to two other murders, one of an unidentified woman reportedly shot outside a Checkers, and another of a homeless man shot outside a Georgia Kroger, Fox reported.
Bill Melugin reported on the Bullis’ killing saying that Abel “Abel faces two counts of murder, aggravated assault, and weapons charges after police say he carried out an early morning shooting spree in three separate locations in DeKalb County, GA on Monday, shooting and killing a woman in front of a Checkers, shooting and stabbing Lauren Bullis to death while she was walking her dog, and shooting a homeless man several times in front of a shopping center. Motive is unknown.
DHS confirms that Abel had a lengthy rap sheet prior to this incident, including prior convictions for sexual battery, battery against a police officer, and assault with a deadly weapon.”
