Chris Cuomo is wearing egg on his face after falling for an obvious AI video of Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The “deep fake” video, as it’s been dubbed, wasn’t all that deep and even sported a watermark reading: “parody 100% made with AI.” But that didn’t stop Cuomo from re-posting the clip where AI AOC is seen ranting against actress Sydney Sweeney over the controversial American Eagle ad.

Cuomo reportedly reposted the gag clip, stating: “Nothing about hamas or people burning jews cars,” Cuomo wrote. “But sweeney jeans ad? Deserved time on floor of congress? What happd to this party? Fight for small business …not for small culture wars.”

Oof.

It didn’t take long for AOC to fire back. “This is a deepfake dude,” she wrote in response to Cuomo’s now-deleted post. “Please use your critical thinking skills. At this point you’re just reposting Facebook memes and calling it journalism.”

That has got to hurt.

Cuomo didn’t directly respond to AOC, but seemingly did so in a stand-alone post he likely is hoping will fade away into Internet oblivion:

You are correct…that was a deepfake (but it really does sound like you). Thank you for correcting. But now to the central claim: show me you calling on hamas to surrender or addressing the bombing of a car in st louis belonging to the idf american soldier?…dude?

Despite his attempts to delete and deflect, Cuomo took a hammering for falling for such a blatant gag:
