Florida Dems fume after DeSantis removes rainbow crosswalks: ‘You can’t erase us!’

Florida Dems are furious after Gov. DeSantis ordered rainbow virtual signals to be scraped off the Sunshine State’s streets.

Last month, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sent a letter to every state governor demanding they remove gratuitous distractions from roadways.

“Roads are for safety, not political messages or artwork,” Duffy said in a statement to The Daily Signal. “Today, I am calling on governors in every state to ensure that roadways, intersections, and crosswalks are kept free of distractions.”

“Far too many Americans die each year due to traffic fatalities to take our eye off the ball,” he added.

DeSantis answered his call, and needless to say, Dems aren’t taking it well.

“In the middle of the night, ripped the rainbow colors off of this city sidewalk. They illegally vandalized city property,” State Senator Carlos Smith fumed.

DeSantis was at the ready with a simple response.

“We will not allow our state roads to be commandeered for political purposes,” the Florida governor replied to the video.

Florida state Rep. Anna Eskamani accused DeSantis of “erasing an entire community.”

LGBTQ activists were reportedly out in force to repaint some of the crosswalks on Friday morning.

Try as they might, it seems this is a battle the left will likely lose in solid red Florida, especially since it appears the protest was half-hearted with the use of chalk.

As for the Dem legislators? They didn’t receive much sympathy from X users either:
