Linda McMahon says Trump ‘intends’ to sign order scrapping Dept. of Education

Education Secretary Linda McMahon said President Trump’s “intent” is to make American education great again, and scraping the failed Dept. of Education is inevitable.

“I think he certainly intends to sign the order, and we’ve talked about it,” McMahon told “Fox & Friends” in her fist interview as Ed. Secretary. “He’s made it crystal clear since the time he was running for president that this is his intent.”

“His intent is to provide quality education, through school choice to all students,” McMahon continued and said that Trump wants to see education “back at the state lever where it belongs.”

“Local school boards, teachers and parents” should be the decision makers when it comes to children’s education,” she said.

McMahon said many programs are currently on the table to help children escape failing schools. “No child should be stuck in a failing school.”

She went on to claim that 705 of American children can’t read with proficiency, despite the enormous amount Americans spend on education.

McMahon urged the need to get “back to the basics” of reading and science but said it will be up to governors if they continue to fund “woke” schools if federal funds go away.

When asked if America “needs” the Department of Education, McMahon gave a concise answer: “No.”
