Move over Hegseth, Trump’s public execution decision sparks fierce debate

To stream or not to stream… that was the question that has not been fully answered in the execution of a terrorist until today.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth caused a massive meltdown when he announced that Ford Hood shooter Nidal Hasan was to be executed and that his death would be livestreamed for anyone who wanted to watch.

The purpose of the livestream?

To show that the U.S. is no longer playing nice with convicted terrorists and criminals and to deter future radical lunatics from harming Americans.

Hegseth’s announcement was met with fierce criticism, not only by those on the left, as a public execution is reminiscent of primitive times.

But have we evolved?

Plenty of those who supported Hegseth argued that countries in the Middle East have not, and a powerful show of brutal justice is something potential terrorists could understand.

But the big boss in the White House gets the final say, which he announced today.

“I think streaming the execution for all to see might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Thursday.

“He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed.”

Immediate family members of Hasan, however, will be able to witness his execution if they choose.

“They deserve to witness JUSTICE!’ Trump wrote.

As with Hegseth’s original decision for a public execution, Trump’s announcement drew fierce backlash and debate:
