‘New fear unlocked’: Crowd panics when panel falls out of cruise ship waterslide

Is a ruptured waterslide a reason to panic? Some folks certainly think so!

Wild video shared by Fox News shows a moment after a Royal Caribbean cruise ship’s waterslide ruptured near the top, sparking great concern among onlookers.

“Stop the slide!” was heard from a panicked crowd. And why not be panicked? A plexiglass panel falling off the bottom of the tube seems like a big deal. Thankfully, no one appeared to have been seriously injured.

“Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide,” a Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson, according to ABC News. “The guest is being treated for his injuries.”

The short clip sparked plenty of banter on X, where some thought the crowd’s reaction was over-the-top:
