President Donald Trump made a rare admission about his immigration team and hinted that he’s been doing some damage control when it comes to messaging.
“I think we do a phenomenal job, but I don’t think we’re good at public relations,” Trump told “NBC Nightly News” anchor Tom Llamas.
Llamas was questioning Trump about Joe Rogan’s harsh criticism, arguing that ICE operations were too harsh.
“You don’t want militarized people in the streets just roaming around, snatching up people… many any of which turn out to be U.S. citizens that just don’t have their papers on them,” Rogan had said, comparing ICE to the “Gestapo.”
Trump told Llamas that he’s been in touch with Rogan since that disparaging statement, presumably to set the record straight.
“First of all, he’s a great guy. We had a tremendous success before the election. I think it was his biggest interview ever,” Trump said before disclosing that he had a conversation with Rogan “three days ago.”
“Just had a good conversation,” he said. “I think he’s a great guy, and I think he likes me too.”

X users were happy to hear that the two had a conversation, with some agreeing that Republicans have a messaging problem.
Respectful disagreement is healthy. Trump and Joe Rogan talked it out like adults and kept the focus on policy and results.

I agree with Trump. Bad messaging overall – but Bessent & Rubio are great.

Rogan ‘understand’ does not necessarily mean ‘agreement.’
Joe Rogan pretty much identified that the optics looked bad. And that is exactly what Trump addressed when he talked about Republicans not being good with messaging.
