Canadian-born pop singer Tate McRae ignited controversy after launching a Winter Olympics video promoting — Team America!
“I’m trying to get to Milan for an amazing opening ceremony and meet Team USA. Gonna spend the week with some of America’s best skating for gold and Lindsey Vonn’s epic comeback. And back to the states for the big game, Super Bowl LX,” she said in the commercial.

McRae’s commercial comes amid a growing movement in Alberta to secede, and President Trump’s quips that Canada could become America’s 51st state.
Needless to say, leftists didn’t take kindly to McRae’s pro-America stance.
Literally born on Canada Day in Canada. Trait McRae

Isn’t that lady a Canadian? This is making me think the Tate mcMaga rumours are true

This is going to age VERY poorly. As a Canadian, @tatemcrae should be mindful of what the US has put our country through these past 14+ months. This is incredibly poor taste.

But… she’s literally Canadian? Why would she do a USA promo? This is embarassing.

Why? Journalist Rachel Parker, who’s been covering Alberta’s secession movement, had a theory:
People are outraged that Canadian artist Tate McRae is supporting team USA.
But there’s a reason all successful Canadians eventually move south. They just aren’t ready for that conversation yet. https://t.co/uL9bNSX9zl

LOL,
She’s living the Canadian dream.

“It’s expected, especially playing Canada,” U.S. women’s hockey player Caroline Harvey said of expecting to hear boos from Canadians during “The Star-Spangled Banner.” “They don’t like us very much. So, it’s more motivating than anything and, personally, it fuels the fire and makes us want to, you know, beat them more than ever.”
