Democrats are putting their hopes and dreams into Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, and he’s been busy trying to play the part.
Talarico has been in damage control mode over previous comments when he declared it is “existential” to “reduce our meat consumption.”
Here is a telling clip from 2022:
In 2022, James Talarico said it’s “existential” to reduce meat consumption to fight climate change.
“I am proud to say that our campaign has officially become a non-meat campaign… We are only buying vegan products from our local vegan businesses.” pic.twitter.com/tz6K1aGYsy

That’s not exactly a platform to run on if you’re from cattle country, and Talarico has been trying to distance himself from it ever since.
Take, for instance, the shameless photo Democrats posted of Talarico in May of the Senate hopeful pretending to love BBQ while donning a patriotic shirt:
What the hell is he eating?
It’s not BBQ—because Talarico is passionately anti-meat.

Republicans, including President Trump, aren’t planning to let Talarico’s brazen flip-flop die down anytime soon.
“Now he says he loves meat,” Trump said at dinner with Republicans on Wednesday. “You know what he does? He eats meat and he goes outside and throws up all over the place.”
.@POTUS slams James Talarico for lying about being a vegan:

In response toTalarico’s contrived “change of heart,” one X user posted a clip of Fox News’ host Jesse Watters explaining how Dems get away with such obvious inauthenticity:
James Talarico can say whatever it takes to win because the Democratic base will tolerate virtually any political pivot from one of their own—positions they would condemn as cynical, dishonest, or opportunistic if a Republican made the exact same calculation. pic.twitter.com/7qTzJaQYpe

“Democrat voters, they don’t care about the principles; they care about the power,” Waters said. “If you have to say whatever you have to say to get in that seat, you do it.”
