The Washington Post may have found its hook to try to turn what’s become known as ‘algae-gate’ into a story of substance.
The leftist media’s obsession with the beautiful renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool won’t die, and the Washington Post is looking to flip the nothingburger story into “something” with a tried-and-true Dem narrative.
Outkick Founder Clay Travis shared WaPo’s “scoop” on X:
The Washington Post, paper of Watergate, has discovered its new investigation obsession in the Trump era — algae in the reflecting pool. They just blasted this to all their subscribers as the top news story of the day. pic.twitter.com/nynjDneAYy

But that was just the teaser, Travis shared more of what he called the “real story” below:
The real story about algae in the reflecting pool? Climate change. The opening paragraphs! pic.twitter.com/BKumjo1cTh

Ah, climate change. It was only a matter of time.
Never mind the fact that teams of crazy people, some donning “Team Algae” shirts, have been vandalizing the memorial since it made its spectacular renovation debut.

The problem became so persistent that the US Parks Service had to erect fences to keep the TDS-infected agitators at bay:
Or why we can’t have nice things
“Accused”. They have literally carried signs “Team Algae” and we have seen arrests on camera of people tampering with it
Commie scum for pond scum doncha know. TDS abounds https://t.co/WL7PimFXNf

These are just some of the reasons why WaPo’s climate change call was brutally mocked on X:
This is their biggest scoop since Water-Gait! No, not Watergate. Water-Gait: their extensive deep dive into how Trump drank a glass of water awkwardly and then walked slowly down a ramp. Good work, WaPo! You’re saving democracy! 😏

So it’s all caused by “warm temperatures” also known as “typical late-June weather”
— David Demarke (@DemarkeDavid) June 24, 2026
It does tend to get warm in June — if you’re lucky!
😂😂😂😂😂😂and there it is. It’s actually incredible that it took them this long to get there.
