Why are Americans paying to educate foreigners? The numbers are STUNNING

As many Democrats seem prepared to die on the hill of protecting a Jew-hating college campus agitator from deportation, important questions are emerging.

“Why are American taxpayers paying to educate people who aren’t Americans?”

That’s a great question, and one raised by Suzy Weiss of the “Free Press” during a segment on Fox News where she revealed some stunning enrollment numbers.

“Over half of Columbia enrollment is foreign students, and they’re the ones, of course, who pay full tuition,” Weiss explained.

Weiss noted that $400 million in federal grants have been “yanked” under the Trump administration, but argued there’s much more to be scrutinized.

Beyond questioning why Americans, many of whom can’t afford college for their own children, are funding foreigners, Weiss raised the deeper issue of immigration and “which way the cultural exchange is going” under these policies.

When asked about Harvard University’s announcement that it will freeze hiring Weiss predicted a “civil war” between researchers and leftist administrators within many colleges.

“A lot of these federal grants go to the hard sciences,” Weiss said. “So the professors who are supporting the protestors, supporting the BDS resolutions, you know, saying ‘screw it to the administration’ they’re not the ones who are going to get pinched by the fact that Trump is pulling grant funding.”

“So you’re going to see a civil war within the universities of the serious researchers saying, ‘hey, we just want to do our research, we don’t want to get in this fight with the administration over this’ versus the ones who say, ‘no, this is the hill we’re going to die on.’”

The discussion comes as Democrats are demanding the release of a militant, pro-Hamas agitator, Mahmoud Khalil, who had been leading violent protests at Columbia University. And, as lawmakers battle it out on Capitol Hill, Turning Point USA founder and CEO Charlie Kirk got to the “appalling” truth on X.

“But if you dig deeper, the true story is even more appalling: Columbia is using the prestige of its elite undergraduate school to bring in thousands of mediocre foreigners who want a Columbia degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar field. Columbia admits them because they pay full-freight tuition, boosting their bottom line while glutting the American job market and lowering wages for STEM workers,” Kirk charged.

“Why are we letting one of America’s premier universities become overwhelmingly foreign in order to fund bloated administrator paychecks?” He continued.

“Don’t take it from me, the internet is full of Columbia grads complaining about what’s happened to their school:”
