A Democrat Party chairman in Florida arrested, accused of hitting disabled veteran in the head with bullhorn at ‘No Kings’

A rabid Florida Democrat was arrested on Saturday for allegedly hitting a disabled military veteran on the head with a bullhorn during a local “No Kings” protest.

The perpetrator, Hernando County Democrat Party Chairperson Brian Stewart, allegedly hit the veteran, Thomas Michta, on the head with a bullhorn before pushing him, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

After Stewart attacked, the two men “continued to argue for about 30 seconds before Stewart walked away,” the Times reported.

Stewart, 63, was later arrested for simple battery. Michta, the victim, had a “visible lump on his head” when the authorities found him, a sheriff’s deputy later wrote in an arrest affidavit.

The Republican Party of Florida has condemned the attack.

“Violence and political intimidation have no place in our state, and Floridians deserve better than mere silence from Democrat leadership,” Chairperson Evan Power said in a statement. “Nikki Fried must immediately remove Brian Stewart from his position of leadership in the Florida Democratic Party!”

“The fact that this occurred at a far-left ‘No Kings’ protest only underscores how dangerous and inflammatory rhetoric from the radical Left continues to spill over into real-world violence. Leadership is measured by action, and the silence from Florida Democrats is deafening,” he added.

Nikki Fried is the chairperson of the Florida Democratic Party.

The Dems, meanwhile, said they “condemn violence” but then turned around and victim-blamed Michta.

“We have been made aware that our Chair, Brian Stewart, was arrested after responding to a provocation from a local agitator who threw a drink on him and yelled obscenities at community members during a protest,” they added.

There’s reportedly a 12-second video of the incident recorded by Hernando County Conservatives Chairman Louis Johns, but BizPac Review was unable to locate it. However, the Hernando Sun reported viewing the video.

“The beginning of the video shows Stewart extending his arm holding a megaphone toward another man, who is initially off-camera—according to Johns, this is the moment Stewart struck the counter-protester,” according to the outlet.

“Stewart can be heard accusing the counterprotester of pouring his drink on him and asking if he’s ‘out of his mind?’ He then places the megaphone against the man’s chest and pushes him backwards, though both men stay on their feet,” the reporting continued.

Overall, there were numerous arrests across the country during the nationwide “No Kings” protests on Saturday, particularly in Los Angeles:

Of the 75 total arrests made in the Los Angeles area, 66 were for adults arrested for failure to disperse, one was for an adult arrested for possession of some sort of knife, and eight were for juveniles, according to local station KABC.

“Police said an unlawful assembly was declared after protesters threw rocks, bottles, and pieces of concrete at federal officers,” the station reported. “LAPD reported that rocks were also thrown at its officers, leaving several with minor injuries.”

Despite all the violence, the organizers of the “No Kings” protests later celebrated “the largest single-day nonviolent protest in modern American history,” adding that over eight million leftists had participated in 3,300 events across the United States and even overseas.
