The left is pitching the mother of all hissy fits after ABC-Disney pulled late-night host Jimmy Kimmel from the airwaves, depriving the Democratic Party of one of its top propagandists, and some ABC insiders are lashing out at their employer.
Democrats and their media operatives are blaming President Donald J. Trump for the indefinite shelving of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” after the host told his audience that activist and podcaster Charlie Kirk’s assassin was a MAGA conservative, a “joke” that ignited a firestorm. But sources told the New York Post that ABC was “stupid” for not saving Kimmel from himself by not editing the offensive monologue.
“ABC is stupid,” one source told the outlet. “They should have edited Kimmel. They know Trump is after him. Their standards department should have flagged it. They should have known better.”

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said on Monday’s show, boosting the lie that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson is not a rabid leftist but instead a MAGA Republican who killed Kirk because he wasn’t enough of a right-winger.
The Post quoted a source “close to ABC” who said that the Disney-owned network should have learned a “lesson” from its $16 million settlement with Trump last year after he sued for defamation over false rape claims made by star anchor George Stephanopoulos. A costly “lesson” that its leftist hosts can’t control themselves when it comes to Trump, a man whom they clearly hate with a purple passion.
“It’s ABC’s fault. After what happened with George Stephanopoulos, they should have known,” the source said, pointing out that the Trump-obsessed Kimmel’s monologue had “veered into political commentary” and away from “comedy,” the Post reported.
Democrats are shrieking “fascism” and “authoritarianism” over Kimmel’s removal, accusing Trump and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr of ending free speech, but the truth is much simpler than that. The fanatical Kimmel was reportedly set to go on-air to deliver a “very hot” attack on MAGA instead of apologizing, doubling down on his lie before ABC-Disney pulled the plug.
“If Jimmy went on the air, there would have been no way back from that monologue for Jimmy,” CNN quoted a source before stealth editing the first part of the comment out of its article. “We didn’t want that. Everyone deeply values him and wants him to come back. But he has to take down the temperature.’

According to CNN, Disney execs had conversations with the Democrat mouthpiece about “taking down the temperature” of the planned monologue before Nexstar Media Group, which owns hundreds of television stations, announced that it was preempting Kimmel “for the foreseeable future” over his remarks, leading to the decision from Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden to yank the show.
“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible,” Trump said in a post to Truth Social after the news broke.
“Jimmy Kimmel was fired because he had bad ratings, more than anyone else, and he said a horrible thing about a great gentleman known as Charlie Kirk,” the president told reporters on Thursday.
