ABC News pundits react to their new poll showing Trump crushing Biden

Another major media poll showing that President Joe Biden could be in serious trouble if he insists on running for reelection next year, and would lose to GOP frontrunner Donald J. Trump, was released on Sunday and it landed like a bombshell.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll shows that even with all of his serious legal problems, Trump is cleaning the unpopular octogenarian’s clock by a whopping 10 points, the latest in a series of surveys that have set off alarm bells inside the Beltway.

According to the poll, Trump is in front of the flailing incumbent 52-42, and even though the paper added the caveat that it was an “outlier,” it spooked leftist pundits who were already having the jitters after other recent polls told a similar story. Some Democrats are desperately hoping that a savior will arise who can replace Biden.

ABC News anchor Martha Raddatz and the roundtable crew on Sunday morning’s edition of “This Week” were among the pundits who seemed to be flummoxed by the latest in a series of dismal polls for Biden.

“Whatever caveats, whether that is an outlier, that’s a tough one to spin,” Raddatz acknowledged.

But co-host and former DNC boss Donna Brazile, a loyal soldier for Biden, did her best to do exactly that, and she spun like a top.

“It’s a tough one to spin, Martha, but I don’t believe Democrats should be sitting in a panic room. I think they should be out there in the streets like they’ve been all year long. Look, after all, Democrats have won in places like New Hampshire, or a district that Donald Trump carried this Democrat won by six points, Democrats won – down in Jacksonville, Florida. Democrats have won in Wisconsin. Democrats also, with the ballot measure in Ohio. So, don’t go into the panic room just yet. Get out there, make your case to the American people,” she said.

“The message may be out there, but they’re not feeling it,” Raddatz said before Brazile proceeded to rattle off a bunch of bogus White House talking points that aren’t fooling the American people, at least not according to the polling.

The poll also shows deep concerns about Biden’s age: “The issue of age affects perceptions of both of them, though more often with Biden, who would be 82 at the start of a second term while Trump would be 78. Overall, 74 percent of adults say the president would be too old to serve another term, while 50 percent say that of Trump.”

“Obviously, he can’t do anything about that,” Raddatz later said of the age issue. “But he does keep saying, just look at me and people look at him.”

“And this poll is the result of what they see,” said panelist Alex Burns of Politico. “That’s when you have an unfixable issue like that, right? You cannot make the president younger. You can change his appearance on the margins, but not by a lot.”

The former also had something to say about the poll showing him mopping the floor with the geriatric Democrat.

“The WAPO has just increased my polling lead over Crooked Joe Biden to 10 Points, from 9. Well, at least they admitted their mistake! This could be the beginning of a giant comeback for what has become known as the LameStream Media. Would also be a Big Day In America!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
