Actor Ricky Schroder who played Dolly Parton’s dad slammed for remembrance post

Actor Ricky Schroder received heaps of backlash for a ‘backhanded’ and “disrespectful” Instagram post following the death of American Country music icon Dolly Parton.

Schroder played Parton’s father, Robert Lee Patton, in the TV movies “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors (2015) and “Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love” (2016).

Following the shocking announcement of Parton’s death, Schroder took to Instagram to share his thoughts.

“I didn’t agree with her advocating for Transgender & Covid Vaccine support… but Loved her anyway. Thank you for choosing me Dolly to be your Movie Daddy,” Schroder wrote with a picture of him and Parton.

Schroder, who’s been outspoken in his conservative-leaning political views, was summarily slammed for his post:

“This post by you has been one of the most trashy posts I have seen for a tribute for such an amazing person. I was taught to say something nice, or nothing at all. We grew up in the same era. While you’re entitled to your views, thanks to living in the US, your tribute to Dolly disgusts me,” one Instagram user responded.

Others were more direct.

“Fact is YOUR’RE AN ASS HOLE!” another chimed in.

“Dolly was all about love and kindness. Your comment is the opposite. Gross,” said yet another.

But not everyone saw it that way. At least one Instagram user saw the meaning behind Schroder’s post entirely differently.

“I don’t think the haters here see how people can actually disagree AND love each other,” they said.

Schroder recently went public with a controversial endorsement of the book, “I’m Unvaccinated and That’s OK!”

“What a wonderful book. What a wonderful message,” Schroder said of Dr. Shannon Kroner’s book in a video shared on July 31.

It’s easy to see that Schroder has his mission at the forefront of his mind.
