New Jersey Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver lost her appeal after a federal grand jury charged her with interfering with law enforcement operations.
McIver was seen on video assaulting an ICE officer as a mob was attempting to storm an ICE facility on May 9th, 2025.
Congresswoman Lamonica McIver clashed with federal ICE agents at ICE facility Delaney Hall.
She thought she wouldn’t get into trouble because she’s a Black, leftist Congresswoman.
Well, she was wrong.
A court has just decided that charges against her can proceed.

In June, a federal grand jury delivered a three-count indictment against McIver for allegedly forcibly assaulting, impeding, intimidating, and interfering with ICE and Homeland Security Investigators. McIver faces 8 years in prison plus fines for each of Counts 1 & 2 and up to 1 year for Count 3, simple assault. That’s a combined statutory maximum of 17 years, not including fines.
Plenty of X users were happy to see the courts work as they should:

Too bad McIver couldn’t think that far ahead and anticipate her actions would end up opening up a legal barrel of whoop-ass up one side and down the other.
Maybe next time, voters will think twice before re-electing her to public office.

Outstanding. Sanity prevails. The message needs to be sent that childish, fantastical, ignorant, moronic behavior cannot be hidden behind the shield of being a government elected official.

McIver’s pompous grandstanding at the detention center boomeranged on her.
