U.S. Sen. Adam Schiff evidently believes Americans have memory loss or are dumb enough to believe his claim that the Department of Justice was not weaponized under the previous administration.
The Democratic senator from California mocked Republicans who “rail” about the Biden administration’s weaponization of the justice system against President Donald Trump and his supporters. Speaking at the 2025 Texas Tribune Festival, Schiff said he found the criticism”absurd” in light of how non-partisan former Attorney General Merrick Garland was.

“Before all this, you know, there were a great many of my colleagues whom I respected and even admired because even though our views were very different, I believe that they believed what they were saying,” Schiff remarked as he spoke with fired ABC News correspondent Terry Moran.
“I have a hard time believing that many of them believe what they’re saying today,” the Democrat continued.
“I listen in the judiciary committee to a lot of my colleagues across the aisle rail with just the most righteous indignation about the horrible weaponization of the Justice Department under that well-known partisan Merrick Garland,” he snarked, drawing laughter from Moran and the audience.
“And it is so fanciful as to be absurd, but they speak it with what appears to be total conviction. And I don’t know, maybe they’re better actors than they used to be, or maybe they’ve so internalized the talking points that they persuaded themselves.” Schiff declared with no hint of self-awareness.
Social media users responded with a factual trip down memory lane, happy to set Schiff’s memory straight on just how weaponized the DOJ was in the years before Trump was overwhelmingly voted back into the White House.
Ah yes, the Merrick Garland, who used 4 or 5 states to try and nail his boss’ primary political opponent on 94 felony clerical errors. That partisan Merrick Garland?

I was very much alive, 2021-2024, and awake, and if Garland was any more partisan he would have made a great lefty judge for some rogue federal court.
What Trump is doing now isn’t called weaponization; it’s called precedent with justification to prosecute.

Democrats believe everyone is ignorant and can’t remember anything before today’s breakfast. They rewrite history to suit whatever narrative they want to broadcast.

Schiff isn’t saying here what a lot of them are — they’re pissed at Garland because he didn’t move fast enough to get Trump in prison before the election.

Adam Schiff has said some incredibly stupid statements, but this has to be one of his top.

And even worse, the most corrupt member of Congress – Schifty – is pretending America does not know that about him.

They all act like this. They think we have the memory of a fly
