‘After years of censorship…’ Marco Rubio releases senate report: ‘look at what was happening in China’

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio has released a lengthy report that reinforces the theory that the coronavirus originated from a leak that occurred at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China.

“After years of censorship, there is growing evidence that some type of lab accident is responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic. This report, which took two years to compile, edit, and refine, is a groundbreaking look at what was happening in China during the years and months leading up to the known outbreak of the pandemic,” Rubio said in a statement published Wednesday.

“I am grateful to the staff, fellows, and outside experts who worked to connect the dots. Their work helps fill in some critical blanks and has already contributed to other reports, hearings, and investigations. The implications are impossible to ignore: Beijing hid the truth. This report reinforces the need to hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable,” he added.

Titled “A Complex and Grave Situation,” the 328-page report offers a bevy of circumstantial evidence suggesting that COVID leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology and that the Chinese government then tried to cover it all up.

“Information detailed in this report … indicates that a serious biocontainment failure or accident, likely involving a viral pathogen, occurred at the state-run Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) during the second half of 2019 – approximately during the same period of time in which the available epidemiological evidence indicates that SARS-CoV-2 was introduced to the human population in Wuhan,” the report reads.

The report further accuses the Chinese government of perpetrating “international deception” by denying the legitimacy of the lab leak theory while simultaneously taking measures to strengthen biosafety measures at the Wuhan Institute.

“Just as Beijing was denying the possibility that COVID-19 came from a lab on the world stage, it was warning its own officials of such risks and rolling out new measures to prevent lab accidents,” the report reads.

The report also notes that the Chinese government lied about the COVID virus itself.

“Chinese scientists affiliated with the PLA filed a patent for a COVID-19 vaccine on February 24, 2020. Their research methodology indicates they began work on the vaccine no later than November 2019, nearly two months before Beijing disclosed the existence of SARS-CoV-2,” the report reads.

But there’s evidence suggesting the Chinese knew about COVID even earlier.

“On September 12, 2019, the WIV unexpectedly shut down its online virus database in the middle of the night. Six days later, the WIV advised the Wuhan airport on a drill for the outbreak of a ‘novel coronavirus.’ On September 21, a Wuhan resident known only as Su died from what a Chinese biostatistician believes may have been COVID-19,” according to the report.

That being said, despite all this circumstantial evidence, the report is certain to note that there is no definitive “smoking gun.”

“To be clear, it is the aggregate picture that emerges from this report – not any particular piece of information standing as a proverbial ‘smoking gun’ – which matters most when assessing the origin question,” the report notes.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs government has, for its part, dismissed the report as “a fabrication led by anti-China senators, which has no scientific credibility and is purely a deliberate smear and political manipulation,” according to CNN.

“The ministry pointed to a 2021 report by the World Health Organization report, compiled by a team of international experts and their Chinese counterparts, that said the lab leak theory was ‘extremely unlikely.’ However, the investigation drew criticism from governments around the world over accusations it was incomplete and lacked transparency,” CNN notes.

“Instead of politicizing the issue of the origin of the new coronavirus, the U.S. senator should have worked with the World Health Organization to invite international experts to conduct research on the source and share the research results with the international community in a timely, open and transparent manner,” the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Rubio’s report comes a couple of months after the U.S. Department of Energy concluded that the COVID pandemic most likely originated via a lab leak of some sort.

This stunning, bombshell discovery was listed in a “classified intelligence report” that had been presented to the White House and to certain members of Congress, according to The Wall Street Journal.

“The Energy Department’s conclusion is the result of new intelligence and is significant because the agency has considerable scientific expertise and oversees a network of U.S. national laboratories, some of which conduct advanced biological research,” the Journal reported.
