America may get ‘triumphal arch’ for its 250th birthday, courtesy of Trump

President Donald Trump is reportedly planning another big build to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, drawing inspiration from a French monument.

Plans for an arch, being dubbed the “Arc de Trump” are allegedly underway, with one possible location being “on the other side of the river” from the famous Lincoln Memorial.

“On Trump’s desk in the Oval Office today was a plan for a triumphal arch on the other side of the river from the Lincoln Memorial,” wrote Danny Kemp, White House correspondent for AFP.

An article from Axios shed more light on the potential plans Americans may see come to fruition during Trump’s second term.

“The president’s wandering architectural eye is now gazing southwest from the White House to land around the Memorial Bridge. He wants to erect a giant arch as a grand entrance into Washington from Arlington National Cemetery,” the report reads.

“Let’s build something like the Arc de Triomphe in that space, it would be beautiful when you drive or fly in,” Trump reportedly said to a visitor at the White House several weeks ago.

“Trump has three differently sized models of the ‘Arc de Trump’ that he’s been positioning on a map of D.C. to determine the right scale,” the article continues.

A Truth Social post from Saturday also revealed a drawing of the arch, done by artist Nicolas Leo Charbonneau.
