NFL quarterback Carson Wentz is an avid outdoorsman who decided to post pictures of an Alaskan hunting trip to social media that included him posing with the corpse of a black bear that he had bagged but was likely unprepared for the all-out blitz from critics and infuriated animal rights advocates.
The 30-year-old journeyman gunslinger who is currently a free agent after his latest failed gig with the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins, shared the images of his trophy that he had stalked and killed with a bow and arrow to his Instagram account.
“Bucket list,” Wentz captioned the image along with a checkmark emoji.”Got the opportunity to spot and stalk black bear in one of our new favorite places on earth—Alaska! Incredible trip and an incredible animal!”

Wentz who along with his brother Zach runs the “Wentz Bros Outdoors” hunting channel on YouTube and Instagram was savaged by critics who were loaded for bear and blasted the Super Bowl winner with both barrels.
“This is incredibly gross. Hunting is such an outdated and ridiculous ‘sport.’ I guess because you couldn’t hack it at a real sport, you have to resort to a sport in which your opponent doesn’t have a weapon but you do. Lol. Pathetic behavior,” wrote one Instagram user.
“Such an incredible animal you felt you needed to shoot it and pose with its corpse. I’m not even particularly vocal about animal rights and even I think this is f**king pathetic,” another wrote.
“I see he’s able to target everything but an open receiver,” another cracked.
“What is this barbaric nonsense? Unfollow this clown,” one user said.
“Awesome! Hang it on the wall next to your dead career!” Said another critic.
The animosity directed at Wentz spilled over to Twitter.
Carson Wentz is a total flop as an NFL quarterback. So he takes out his frustration on a beautiful animal. I hope some crazed defensive lineman puts some major hurt on this asshole. pic.twitter.com/ySNUfMC0ju

Hope the real bears get a chance to get Carson Wentz. His arms would make good snacks. Not like he needs them or anything. Go Bears!! Nom nom nom

that photo of Carson Wentz is absolutely disgraceful. anyone who can smile with an animal they blatantly killed for sport is a sociopath. maybe if he applied that killer instinct to football … he wouldn’t suck at being a QB

Always knew Carson Wentz is a piece of shit. I hope nature takes care of him the next time he goes hunting.

Others were far nicer in their commentary.
“Holy s**t man! Need a taste of em,” wrote Taylor Heinicke, Wentz’s former Washington teammate who is now with the Atlanta Falcons.
“Well done. Congrats,” said former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.
“Why don’t you tree huggers get a life? Bear need to be harvested same as any other game species to sustain a healthy population. Black bear is also very good table fare if processed and cooked properly,” wrote a Wentz supporter. Just because he has money doesn’t mean he shouldn’t enjoy his harvest. You same people who bash this have probably never been to a slaughterhouse or actually seen an animal die from starvation, disease, etc.. Mother Nature is far more cruel. The money paid for this license is used for habitat and conservation. Hunters do more for that than any of you uneducated ramblers.”
Since he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Wentz’s pro football career has had its ups and downs as he has struggled to repeat his early success when he led the team to an 11-2 record in 2017 before injuring his knee and having to watch his backup Nick Foles lead Philly to a stunning Super Bowl upset of Tom Brady’s New England Patriots.
Plagued by injuries over the next three seasons, he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021 where he put up solid numbers but was scapegoated for the team’s failure to make the playoffs and traded to Washington where he was released after one dismal season. He is currently unsigned and looking for a new team.
