A domestic violence suspect was shot dead by a female cop in Portland after the man took a shot at her partner during a scuffle caught on camera.
The officers were responding to a report of a male and female physically fighting, according to a statement released by the Portland Police Bureau.
“While attempting to arrest the male suspect, a shot was fired by the suspect, resulting in an officer returning fire. The suspect was declared deceased at the scene,” the release said.
Video footage shared online shows the man battling with the officers and, at one point, a shot can be heard ringing out. The male officer ducks his head at the same time, appearing to barely miss being shot. A split second beforehand, his partner can be heard screaming, “Gun!”
As the cops fight with the suspect, a woman on the scene is heard repeatedly screaming, “Stop it!” and “Let him go!”
The female officer, identified as Officer Mina Cavalli-Singer, had her gun in her hand, and when the man tried to grab the weapon she opened fire, shooting him several times.

“I’m glad our officers are okay, and this highlights how dangerous this job can be,” said Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell, who responded to the scene.
Independent journalist Andy Ngô shared on Twitter the reaction from an apparent Antifa member who suggested the officers should have let the suspect shoot them first before returning fire.
“Yes. Yes I would have. They probably escalated the situation, and he had every right to fight for his life,” read the tweet Ngô featured.
The reaction of #Antifa members in Portland to the shooting is to say that the armed suspect should have had the right to kill the cops. The domestic terrorist organization also called on comrades to take to the street in protest and were in such a haste to get the word out that they didn’t bother to get the proper address, according to Ngô:
#Antifa currently have people on the ground at the @SharisPies at 1832 NE 122 Ave. directing comrades to the new meeting location at the corner of SE Clinton St. & SE 148th Ave. They didn’t bother to look where the shooting had actually occurred when they made the original flyer. pic.twitter.com/WwT0gHhC0j
