AOC: Barring biological males from women’s sports will result in ‘genital examinations’ for girls

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., decried efforts to “marginalize” transgender Americans during a House hearing in which she made the claim that women in sports will have to face “genital examinations” to prove their gender.

The far-left “Squad” member delivered her eyebrow-raising warning during Tuesday’s House Oversight Subcommittee on Health hearing as the discussion highlighted the banning of biological men from women’s sports.

Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines provided testimony during the hearing, at one point setting off fireworks when she verbally shot back at Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa., the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Health who insulted the women’s sports advocate as “transphobic.”

During the hearing on the “Importance of Protecting Female Athletics and Title IX,” Ocasio-Cortez warned about the implications of barring biological men from participating in women’s sports, beginning with a rant about listening to panels and “hearings of men attempting to restrict the rights of women and telling us it is for our own good.”

“We are talking about opening up all women and girls to genital examinations when they are underage, potentially just because someone can point to someone and say, I don’t think you are a girl,” she claimed.

“And we’re saying this in an environment of a post-Dobbs America, where states are criminalizing access to abortion and want nothing more than data on women to figure out when, who’s getting a menstrual cycle, who doesn’t have one, and we’re supposed to believe this is going to make us better and safer?” she continued.

“I think not, and, per usual, I don’t believe we’re sitting here on a panel of men that has actually thought about the biology and privacy consequences of all women, trans or cisgendered,” the New York Democrat added.

In Ohio, Republicans struck down a provision in a ban on transgenders in women’s sports that would have required “internal and external” exams. Instead, student-athletes who wanted to compete had to “present a copy of the participant’s original birth certificate” in the new provision by Ohio Senate Republicans.

“At the high school level, the participation of male athletes on women’s teams is, arguably, one of the most underreported stories in the country,” Gaines said in her opening statement.

“Science supports that instinct,’ she continued. ‘In fact, studies consistently show male bodies have about a 10% athletic advantage over female bodies,” she added. “This gap is evident in almost every sport and at every level of competition. Yes, hormone therapy can narrow this gap. But it cannot close it, and studies consistently demonstrate that surgery and testosterone suppression do not reduce male athletic performance to normal female levels.”

Gaines fired back at Lee during a heated exchange after the Pennsylvania Democrat called out the testimony of the former University of Kentucky swimmer and other witnesses as “transphobic.”

“Inclusion cannot be prioritized over safety and fairness,” Gaines said. “And ranking member Lee, if my testimony makes me ‘transphobic,’ then I believe your opening monologue makes you a misogynist.”

Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez’s bizarre comments during the hearing sparked plenty of reaction on social media.
