AOC chief-of-staff running to replace Pelosi hits trifecta with big drag queen bash

An endorsement to fill California Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D) seat hit the leftist trifecta ahead of a “Drag Me to Vote!” event: “Perversion, sacrilege and ridiculousness…”

Much like the cutthroat competition that was kicked off to fill the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D) seat when she was still very much alive and had not stated an intention to retire, open races in California remain crowded and primed for claws to come out. Last week, that literally happened as New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D) multimillionaire former chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, earned the endorsement of drag queen “Peaches Christ.”

Days after the endorsement of the Squad member’s former campaign chair and onetime Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I) presidential campaign Director of Organizing Technology, the eat the rich peddling “Peaches” appeared in a video alongside the candidate to announce an event called “Drag Me to Vote!” featuring “iconic Queens, Kings and performers” promoting a “society that actually is going to work for everybody, not just the richest few.”

As previously reported, both Chakrabarti and Ocasio-Cortez were members of the board of Justice Democrats, a political action committee that helped facilitate a dark money movement in favor of herself and other Squad members, co-founded by Chakrabarti, Cenk Uygur, Kyle Kulinski, and Zack Exley.

In the endorsement video for the candidate hoping to take the seat of Pelosi, who has served San Francisco in the House since 1987, “Peaches” argued, “San Francisco has a rare opportunity right now. This congressional race will decide whether we keep accepting business as usual or whether we send someone to Washington willing to actually challenge the systems that created the crises we’re living through.”

Included in the crowded primary field running against Chakrabarti are California state Sen. Scott Wiener and San Francisco Board of Supervisors member Connie Chan.

While it is expected that alphabet activism pandering would earn criticism from the right, “Peaches” endorsement of the aspiring billionaire took on friendly fire from the left as comments slammed the “Bad choice” with “zero track record in San Francisco.”

“Nothing like being dragged to back a billionaire when there is another option who is not a billionaire or a billionaire’s bro. Vote Connie Chan. Also, why aren’t y’all supporting the woman of color whose running who is also backed by labor? What is your class analysis here?” wrote one user as another called out the candidate for his support of “opponents of actual disruptors.”

Across the aisle, there was little surprise to see the endorsement as one worth promoting by the campaign. That said, some suggested that Republicans could take advantage of Chakrabarti pulling drag support, arguing that GOP voters should do their part and contribute to the campaign.
