Did Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., claim that the United States Senate was “founded on Jim Crow?”
The internet was baffled by what was either an incredibly poorly worded sentence or the most historically ignorant take that mankind has ever been forced to endure.

“I don’t support the filibuster, I don’t support elements of this institution that we know were founded on Jim Crow,” she said.
Because the mindboggling sentence was so badly constructed, social media users have to decide whether she is claiming the United States Senate was “founded on Jim Crow,” or if she was incorrectly referring to the filibuster as an “institution.”
