Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has threatened a full-out war if Vice President Kamala Harris replaces the head of the Federal Trade Commission.
She issued the threat early Wednesday after billionaire Mark Cuban, a surrogate for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, told Semafor that he doesn’t believe the VP should keep Lina Khan as the FTC chair if she wins the presidency.
“Let me make this clear, since billionaires have been trying to play footsie with the ticket: Anyone goes near Lina Khan and there will be an out and out brawl,” the congresswoman tweeted.
“And that is a promise. She proves this admin fights for working people. It would be terrible leadership to remove her,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

The threat came a day after Cuban’s remarks.
“If it were me, I wouldn’t,” he said when asked by Semafor about the prospect of Harris retaining Khan as the FTC chair. “By trying to break up the biggest tech companies, you risk our ability to be the best in artificial intelligence.”
Khan is known for her efforts targeting large, monopolistic companies like Google. Plus, while speaking at an event hosted by the conservative Federalist Society last year, she reportedly signaled that she supported Texas’ efforts at combating social media censorship.

Surprisingly, Khan is supported in her efforts by Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance.
“I don’t agree with Lina Khan on every issue, to be clear, but I think that she’s been very smart about trying to go after some of these big tech companies that monopolize what we’re allowed to say in our own country,” he reportedly told CBS News earlier this fall.
Cuban later defended his attacks on Khan in a tweet.
“This is about AI,” he wrote. “It’s a zero sum race for global dominance. If we lose, the consequences are far more than economic. We have multiple companies fighting to win this race. And that competition is moving everyone forward. Even with the insane amount of capital required.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders also decided to jump into the fray.
“@mcuban is wrong,” he tweeted. “Lina Khan is the best FTC Chair in modern history. By taking on corporate greed & illegal monopolies, Lina is doing an exceptional job preventing large corporations from ripping-off consumers & exploiting workers.”

As for Ocasio-Cortez, in addition to attacking “billionaires,” she’s also been lecturing Republicans like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene about climate change and its effect on weather.
The lecture comes after Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested in various Twitter/X posts that the federal government can control the weather.
Yes they can control the weather.
Here is Obama’s CIA Director John Brennan talking about it.
Anyone who says they don’t, or makes fun of this, is lying to you.

Her tweets prompted a reply from Ocasio-Cortez, though the reply wasn’t directed at her in particular.
Look:
The hurricane “machine” is climate change.
Cooler ocean temperatures slow hurricane development.
As temps rise, more hurricanes grow.
The Gulf of Mexico is a major location for warming water.
The people who bear responsibility are fossil fuel co’s + the politicians they buy.
