For the second consecutive day, Americans saw the price of gasoline hit a record high on Wednesday and also saw a Democrat lawmaker who wouldn’t address the situation.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was caught on camera heading across the street from the U.S. Capitol building Wednesday evening but did not answer questions asked about the record prices at gas pumps across the nation.
The usually outspoken New York Democrat walked away without a response in a video obtained by Fox News which reported that she was on her way to dinner at Bullfeathers with her colleague Rep. Mondaire Jones of New York.
To be fair, the initial questions being asked may have gone unheard as Ocasio-Cortez was seen engaged in an exchange already with her companion.

“Congresswoman, what do you have to say to the people paying the price at the gas pump?” she was asked as she continued walking. “Congresswoman, you have nothing to say?”
The video and questions came just one day after President Joe Biden had announced sanctions against Russian oil and gas in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine.
According to AAA, one year ago, the average price of gas at the pump was $2.81. That number is currently $4.31, the highest recorded price on Wednesday, with some portions of California showing prices that topped $5 a gallon.
When asked by Fox News’ Hillary Vaughn on Tuesday if the U.S. should buy oil from Iran and Venezuela, Ocasio-Cortez had responded, “None of these options are good ones.”
Rep. AOC today on Russian oil ban + buying oil from Iran/Venezuela: “none of these options are good ones because of our dependency on oil” – tells me its “alarming” people are talking about increasing domestic production to fix supply issues and not also rapid $$ for solar/wind. pic.twitter.com/Fn5lWRK6lV

“It’s very alarming that many people are pushing to increase either imports or production of oil,” Ocasio-Cortez added. “What we really need to be doing is rapidly investing in solar and wind.”
