Apple TV+ postpones new series about ‘right wing’ extremism in aftermath of Kirk assassination

Apple TV+ has indefinitely postponed its upcoming thriller about a top-secret investigator who infiltrates online groups to take them down, another piece of Hollywood propaganda that unfairly demonizes conservatives as domestic extremists.

The premium streaming series, which stars Jessica Chastain as “The Savant,” was set to debut on September 26 but was abruptly delayed in the aftermath of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination by a radicalized shooter with leftist ideology.

“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant,” an Apple TV+ spokesperson said in a statement. “We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.”

“Jessica Chastain stars as a top-secret undercover investigator known as the Savant, who infiltrates online hate groups to take down the most violent extremists in the United States,” reads Apple TV+’s description of the series. There is no future debut for the show with Apple TV+, only stating that it’s coming “At a later date.”

The show now faces an uncertain future in a rapidly changing political environment, when even The Atlantic is acknowledging that left-wing terrorism is “on the rise” and the next political murder is likely a matter of if and not when, with Democrats doing nothing to turn down the temperature that has whipped up their base into a murderous mob.

If anything, they have doubled down on the incendiary rhetoric about “fascism” that inspired 22-year-old Tyler Robinson to kill Kirk and has fueled a campaign of violence against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which has had targets put on their backs by Democrat lawmakers and blue state governors.

Even before it was set to debut, the show’s trailer was a bonanza for social media users who seized on images of Chastain intensely staring into her computer screen to use as memes mocking the series, and many took to X to share their takes about the announcement that “The Savant” is now in limbo.

“The Savant” is based on a 2019 Cosmopolitan article titled “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” and stars Chastain as Jodi Goodwin as an employee of the Anti-Hate Alliance, a fictional organization that could be any of the hundreds of entities that cashed in on the gold rush of manufacturing a phantom white nationalist menace after President Donald J. Trump’s shocking upset of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

“The series, adapted by Melissa James Gibson, is based on the real woman profiled in the Cosmo story, but carefully conceals her identity. On the show, Jodi lives in a Cincinnati suburb, and her husband, Charlie (Nnamdi Asomugha), who is Black, is deployed overseas,” according to Variety.

“It seems absolutely maddening that Apple TV+ would pull such a move, especially following the disaster that ABC and its parent company Disney faced after yanking ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ off the air on Sept. 17, following his frank but fair comments after the death of Charlie Kirk. Like Disney/ABC, it seems that Apple TV+ is cowering to a presidential administration that appears to be more concerned with its own dialogue and viewpoints,” the showbiz news outlet whined, blaming it all on Trump, which will only further contribute to the radicalization of left-wing domestic extremists.
