Argentina’s Milei thumbs nose at UN in debut speech denouncing globalism, defending freedom

Argentina’s new president just delivered his debut speech to the United Nations that transcends national borders and political parties.

In his statements, he clearly established his country as an opponent of globalism and totalitarianism, and as a defender of freedom. He zeroed in on the “Pact for the Future” which is a 42-page document recently adopted by the UN that features climate action, gender equality, and artificial intelligence regulation.

“Argentina will not back any policy that implies the restriction of individual freedoms or trade, nor the violation of the natural rights of individuals,” the president proclaimed. “We invite all nations of the free world to join us, not only in opposing this pact but in the creation of a new agenda for this noble institution: the freedom agenda.”

He added that the United Nations’ past 2030 sustainable development agenda was merely a “supranational program of a socialist nature” as he lambasted the organization for becoming a “multi-tentacled Leviathan that seeks to decide what each nation-state should do and how the citizens of the world should live.”

“The same always happens with the ideas of the left. They design a model according to what human beings should do, and when things turn out differently, they repress, restrict, and curtail their freedom.”

“We have seen how [the United Nations], born to defend the rights of man, has been one of the main proponents of the systematic violation of freedom, as — for example — with the global lockdowns in the year 2020, which should be considered a crime against humanity.”

X users had a lot to say, including praising Milei for calling out the UN to their face:
