A Florida husband has been cleared after fatally shooting a convicted felon who allegedly attempted to kidnap his wife.
The victim was walking her dog on New Year’s Day in Bradenton when Nicholas Palomo, 36, tried to abduct her, according to Fox News. The woman was able to get away from Palomo’s car and ran to alert her husband.
Manatee County Sheriff’s Office detectives said the husband, who was armed, went outside to confront Palomo, and the suspect advanced toward him in a threatening manner. The husband fired a single shot to the chest, and Palomo died at the scene despite life-saving efforts, the network reported.
The suspect had served time in prison for kidnapping and other crimes. Before the encounter with the husband, Palomo had reportedly caused a disturbance at a nearby Circle K while appearing to be under the influence of drugs.
Police determined that the shooting was an act of self-defense.
There was zero sympathy for the deceased man on social media, with most believing Palomo got what he deserved — here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
A husband didn’t go looking for trouble. Trouble followed his wife home. There’s a thin line between vigilante & protector & sometimes instinct beats policy. Society debates safety. families live it. Real life ain’t a seminar. Stay alert fr. 😤🛑

Good. It is apparent that radical politics has tied the hands of law enforcement to do the job of protecting the people from crime & harm. If they are unable to do their job, who will?
