‘As governor of Florida, I’ll legalize weed asap’: Desperate DeSantis contender vows ‘open market’

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Fried vowed, “As governor of Florida, I’ll legalize weed asap.”

Of course, for her to become governor she’d have to defeat popular Gov. Ron DeSantis, and few pundits left or right believe Fried can do that. In fact, most don’t believe she will prevail in the Democratic primary, which is less than three months away. Real Clear Politics average polling has Fried trailing U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., by double digits, 41 percent to 22 percent — Crist is a political chameleon who previously served as governor of Florida as a Republican, before becoming an independent, before becoming a Democrat. He is racking up endorsements and scored his biggest endorsement yet when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. D-Calif., backed him in April.

Fried is currently Florida’s agriculture commissioner — not that the public would know it, given that she spends most days campaigning and on the Twitter machine — and her biggest problem appears to be that she flails around and has no real message other than attacking DeSantis. In a recent interview with Fox News, the Democrat claimed the governor was “creating havoc” in the Sunshine State. The rest of the nation seems to have a different take on that as they are flocking to the state in impressive numbers.

“He’s made our state unaffordable. He has divided our state,” she said, apparently believing voters are too stupid to understand that President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party own both of these categories.

Which is where the bread and circuses come into play — or weed. And not only will Fried legalize weed, but she also touts that it will be an “open market.”

But even Democrats and stoners appear to be unconvinced, according to the online responses… here’s a quick sampling of some of those responses from Twitter:
