Baltimore’s Dem mayor blames Texas, Florida, other southern states for holiday weekend bloodbath

Like many other Democrat-controlled cities, Baltimore is a crime-ridden hellhole where residents are literally risking their lives every time they venture out into the streets and a bloodbath at a holiday weekend block party in the historic Maryland city is grabbing headlines.

Rather than acknowledge the festering environment of lawlessness that exists in Baltimore, the location of HBO’s popular crime drama “The Wire,” and the role that leftist politicians have played through the coddling of criminals who have been emboldened to become more violent, the city’s Democrat mayor pointed the finger in a different direction toward several southern states which he blamed for enabling the Sunday morning massacre by not having more restrictive gun laws.

Mayor Brandon Scott, an up-and-comer in Democratic Party politics, appeared on Monday’s edition of “CNN This Morning” where he discussed the shooting that claimed the lives of two Baltimore residents and wounded 30 more, the majority of them under the age of 18, a tragic example of the impact of Democrat soft on crime policies on the young.

“Mayor Scott, you said this year alone Baltimore PD confiscated 1,300 illegal weapons. Do you have a sense of where guns are coming from, the sort of illegal supply of guns are coming from into the city?” CNN anchor Audie Cornish asked.

“These guns come into Maryland – I want to be very clear about this – because Maryland has gun laws that actually have an impact. We have a ghost gun ban, which is why you see those numbers coming down. But these weapons come from Virginia. They come from Texas. They come from Florida. They come from Alabama. They come from everywhere in this country,” the mayor replied, blaming guns and not thugs for the carnage.

“Here we are dozens of years later, decades later at this point and we’re still dealing with mass shootings because of the inaction to deal with this issue on a national level. This can no longer be an issue that falls to the feet of local police, local elected officials or state governments,” Scott continued, seeming to suggest a larger crackdown on firearms on a national level is needed.

“I want those who are responsible to hear me, and hear me very clearly,” Scott said at the scene of the crime. “We will not stop until we find you, and we will find you. Until then, I hope that every single breath you take, that you think about the lives that you took, think about the lives that you impacted here tonight.”

“Maryland has had enough of watching gun violence continue to ravage our state and our nation,” the state’s Democrat Governor Moore said in a statement. “The fact that these horrific shootings continue to take place is abominable. We as a state will continue to do everything we can to prevent senseless acts of violence like the one we saw last night.”
