Steve Bannon set his sights squarely on establishment Republicans with a message for “McConnell’s b*tch” as the powers that be pick winners and losers for the 2024 primaries.

Friday, the one-time chief strategist for then-President Donald Trump criticized the sausage-making of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), and in particular its current chair, Montana Sen. Steve Daines. Specifically, Bannon took umbrage with the congressman and influential committee chair’s split allegiances, having endorsed the former president while working to load the upper chamber with picks from Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.)
“You know, this guy Daines, this Montana — and if you’re in Montana, I hate to be brutally frank about this, but he is just Mitch McConnell’s b*tch. Okay? Let me be blunt. He’s a gutless coward!” slammed the political strategist during his “War Room” podcast.
“He hides behind the NRSC, this, this, this — and he’s he’s up kissin’ Trump’s a** all the time. Trump knows that all he’s pushing is Mitch McConnell guys, the guy out there in Montana is going to be another Mitch McConnell clone,” he argued of retired Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy who had landed the endorsement of a number of Trump supporters, including former Secretary of the Interior and U.S. Navy SEAL, Montana Rep. Ryan Zinke.
“This is how he raises the money…This is not gonna happen again. President Trump knows who — they know who MAGA are and they know who the phony ones are,” contended Bannon. “And no offense, in Montana, Commander is a fantastic guy. He was Secretary Interior. I consider him a colleague, a guy I think highly of. But he’s just been not good enough as a congressman. Why? He’s a McCarthy guy and he votes the…establishment order just like Daines, 1,000% establishment.”
The podcast host went on to promote Montana Rep. Matt Rosendale, who has yet to announce a bid for the nomination to run against incumbent Democrat Jon Tester, as “one of the heroes.”
“The pressure and hate on these guys is nonstop, but Matt Rosendale 100%, 120% is hardcore MAGA. And that’s what we need in the Senate,” he continued before suggesting that, by comparison, the NRSC won’t attempt to run a McConnell-favored candidate against former Arizona gubernatorial candidate turned Senate hopeful, Kari Lake.
“They’re trying to co-opt her all the time, But hey, that’s okay…You got to do what you got to do. But you know what Kari’s default positions are,” Bannon asserted before adding, “McConnell wants control, that evil, decrepit old man.”
“You can go down to Mar-a-Lago all you want, you can kiss Trump’s a** all you want — we’re gonna out you all the time. You’re Mitch McConnell’s b*tch,” he reiterated before taking a swipe at the Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw-types in the Republican Party who “went a little too Hollywood” and “a little too woke.”
“Last thing we need,” he said, seemingly referring to Sheehy, “is another woke Navy SEAL in elective office…”
