Former Attorney General Bill Barr disagreed with his former boss that the trial date set by an Obama-appointed judge amounted to election interference, even if it has been scheduled for the most crucial time of the Republican primary season.
Barr appeared on Thursday’s edition of “America Reports” on Fox News where he discussed former President Donald J. Trump’s complaints about his trial dates which will keep him tied up during the heat of next year’s primaries, particularly the January 6 case that will be tried in the Washington, D.C. courtroom of U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan who set a date of March 4, 2024, the day prior to Super Tuesday.

Twice serving as the nation’s top law enforcement official, the smoother-than-silk Barr has been a go-to guy for media whenever they need an expert legal to justify the unprecedented treatment of the 2024 GOP frontrunner and he scoffed at Trump’s “silly” protests of the trial dates during a conversation with anchor John Roberts.
Barr appeared two days after Roberts hosted Republican candidate and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie who ridiculed Trump’s insistence that the back-to-back-to-back trials that he’s facing during the primaries are election interference and the host asked him whether he was in agreement.
“Trump supporters say this is all political. This is meant to disrupt the primary,” Roberts said, teeing up a clip of Christie. “So, what do you say about the date of the trial?”
“Well, I think the governor is right,” Barr responded.
“I mean, the basic principle in the criminal justice system is if a prominent person commits a crime and is seeking office, that doesn’t give them immunity.”
“If there’s if there’s enough time to have it resolved before the election, it should be resolved,” Barr continued. “The idea that, ‘Oh, okay. Well, I’m sorry, we’ll let you get to run in the election and then after will address it.’ That’s not a principle of the criminal system. I mean, just think some mayor charged, you know, charged with massive embezzlement and he says, ‘Well, you know, it’s a year and a half to the election. Let’s put that on hold. While I run for reelection.’”
He added, “It’s silly. It’s silly. Now, you can argue about whether he should have been charged and so forth. But the idea that this is interfering with the election is simply wrong.”
The persecuted ex-POTUS fired back on Truth Social, ripping Roberts and the “two losers” who are differing with him over the trials being set during the primaries.
“RINO John Roberts of FoxNews just put failed political candidate Chris Christie, and terminated A.G., lethargic Bill Barr, on to talk about your favorite President, ME! What does he expect from these two losers, one who I refused to give a job, the other who I fired because he was petrified of the Radical Left and what they would do to him. Anyway, my polls are even higher since the so-called Debate. Republicans should unite against the Fascist Lunatics who are destroying our Country!” Trump wrote.

Roberts couldn’t let Barr get away without asking him about unflattering remarks that Trump made about him recently, including that he was “slow thinking” and had a “lack of courage” among other things, including many far worse since the two had a major falling out over the 2020 election.
“Well, he said that’s not what he was saying, you know before I told him that there was… that we hadn’t seen the evidence of fraud that he was telling the American people about before that he sung a much different tune,” Barr replied of the more cordial relationship that once existed.
