A loud, obnoxious Democratic House candidate has been charged with two felonies after he got into an altercation on a Hawaii beach.
The altercation on Keawakapu Beach in Maui started when a 61-year-old man asked congressional candidate Kirill Basin, 40, to turn down his loud music, according to Hawaii News Now (HNN).
Basin didn’t handle the request well.
“Basin allegedly implied he had a firearm and would shoot the victim’s wife,” according to HNN.
He also allegedly displayed a 5-inch switchblade at one point that he later reportedly threw into the ocean.

As seen in the video above, he threatened a woman, telling her he would “put [her] in the ground” and “in the hospital.”
Moments later, as Basin returned to his side of the beach, a larger man identified as Kama Homan approached him from behind. Basin responded by shoving the man, triggering a scuffle.
During the scuffle, Basin stumbled backward over two beach chairs and collapsed to the ground. He immediately jumped back up, grabbed one of the chairs, and swung it at Homan.
The feud ended with Homan knocking Basin unconscious with a punch.
Critics weren’t surprised to learn Basin is a Democrat:
Seems like this is normal among Democrats these days. Take a simple request and blow the fk up for no reason. He deserved a taste of reality.

Again and again, we see Democrat hopefuls, even established ones like Cuomo, Swalwell, Platner, show themselves to be dirtbags.
But Dems don’t care until they are forced to stop ignoring the problems with these people.— Ed Fred (@AnothrRando) August 6, 2026
But it says compassion in his campaign ad. He couldn’t possibly be the aggressor. hahaha pic.twitter.com/b9VX2G6JE6

Following the altercation, Basin was arrested on two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening and then dragged into court in handcuffs on Tuesday.
Making matters significantly worse for Basin, the judge presiding over his case chose to keep his bail at $1 million, triggering outrage from his attorney, Brandon Segal, who called the amount “outrageous.”
“These are just allegations,” Segal insisted. “My client has a presumption of innocence.”
Except for the camera footage …
Kama meanwhile told HNN that he used his mixed martial arts training to take Basil down.
“I’m like, maybe I should intervene, and then as I got closer and closer, he was just getting more irate and violent and then saying stuff,” he recalled. “He put his hands on me and as soon as he tried to shove me, I hit him with a left and a right and that’s when he stumbled and fell over the chairs.”
Kama also admitted to being the one who found Basil’s knife and gave it to the police.
Segal has denied that his client ever pulled out a knife.
“There’s no evidence in any of these videos that have been circulated tremendously that he ever had a knife in his possession,” the attorney said. “He never had a firearm in his possession.”
Perhaps this might be true, but the fact remains that Basil is a loose cannon.
“Court records show Basin has a history of arrests for assault and property damage,” according to HNN. “He allegedly brandished a gun during an argument with county workers in May. The court recommended Basin undergo a mental health assessment.”
During the May incident, he stormed a Maui County government building and pulled out a gun during an argument with county workers, as reported by The Civil Beat.
Two days earlier, he was escorted out of a South Maui town hall meeting after he got into a loud argument with Council member Tom Cook and his staff.
After that incident, Cook’s executive assistant, Jared Agtunong, filed a petition for a temporary restraining order against the unhinged Democrat.
